So, got a 2006 Jetta BRM recently that had a switch installed to send power to the ignition switch. Trying to find a wiring diagram that shows the path from battery to the switch so that I can find the actual source of the problem. Ordered the Bentley manual last night but in the mean time still trying to figure it out. Anyone got a diagram or know of a link that would point me in the right direction?

There are just too many to list....
That's kind of a loaded question... The A5 doesn't really have an "ignition switch" in the traditional sense. I like to think of it as being a key position sensor instead.

But anyway, it is the 'D' in this diagram, and it all goes into the Steering Column Module, J527. There isn't anything directly from the battery to the ignition switch, it's all done low loads through modules and relays. Mainly through the J519 Electrical System Control Module, sometimes called the Central Electronics Module. Both it and the Steering Column communicate through the CAN bus and through the DLC with a suitable scan tool.
