No fule out of pump

Hi 97 Passat
New to me but has been sitting
When I got it 5 months ago it ran but the QA was throwing a code
On Wed I tried to start it but it would only run for 10-15 seconds and slowly die
I tried to re prime pump
Then replaced filter
Tried to re prime
My thermo Tee must have cracked or something
I put in a 96 Jetta fuel filter and by passed that tee
Primed filter primed pump
Drew fuel from return line it will hold vacume for quite awhile
It’s a slow process
Still
No fuel going to injectors

used vagcom no codes

fuel shutoff solonoid clicks
I replaced it with spair tganks
No fuel to injector lines !
and it’s now Friday and I’m running out of four letter words

ps I’m in Sacramento and not worried about thoes return lines

Let's put it this way...rarely do IP problems fix themselves, most often they just get worse.

True but do they fail from sitting for a few months? My vote's for an air/prime issue. I doubt the OP distinguishes the solenoid clicking from the QA doing its initial sweep.

I assumed longer than a few months. OP said:

New to me but has been sitting (I assumed end of sentence)
When I got it 5 months ago... (new sentence)

My assumption is that it's been sitting 5 months (since he got it) and also for an indeterminate amount of time before he got it.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like old pump with prior problems caused car to sit, then new owner inherited a car with a bad pump.

That's how I read it anyway.

I'd probably check for voltage at the fuel solenoid when the key is on first thing.

Said it ran but set a QA Code. Being one who drove for years with QA Codes for upper and lower limit reached I figgered it was drivable but your interpretation is as good as mine.

How about it cpt? Was it drivable? Barely running? Hard to start?
