SEATS!

Now that you have that in writing from VW, I would demand the seats that they say the car should be equipped with. I'm curious to see what seats they come up with. :D
This is what I'm thinking. Honestly I'm not the type to take advantage of things but when a car costs 34k and it's advertised with 12 way seats I expect them.

I'm curious what they'll come up with too. The 8 way seats aren't a bother to me but why not have 12 way if that's what's "supposed" to be in the car

I'll keep you guys updated with the responses and conversation. The first reply took almost a week, at this rate they'll send me the 2015/2016 seats which are rumoured to have a true 12 way seat.

If you do get them replaced, please post how much they cost if you are privy to the information.
I doubt they'll replace them because there technically isn't a seat that would work. Except the CC seat but I doubt they'd go through the hassle to change the harness for this.
Regardless, I'll keep you guys in the loop.

That is unless there truly is a NMS Passat 12 way seat that is/will be used as soon as all of the 8 ay seats are consumed through attrition.

Reply to them asking which dealership you should take your car to to have the 12-way seats installed.

LMAO, I love my 12 way seats in my 2012 Passat ;-) I would've sold this Passat if I hadn't done this mod as that is key. If you are reading this comment and lost, I swapped CC seats into my passat, yes they fit, wiring is a B and no I won't tell or show you how as it all has to be re-wired in order for this to work. Totally worth it in the end.

Are the CC seats any more comfortable or just merely more adjustable?

You wouldn't have to do a DIY but maybe some pinout sheets would be helpful if we were to tackle this on our own.

My previous Prius v's seat didn't adjust the front of the seat up or down, just like the Passat. But I was able to add some washers to front seat bolts to adjust the front of the seat up and it help tremendously on seat comfort. Can something like this be done with the Passat? I like to sit a bit higher but that makes the seat feel so flat with no thigh support.

Sure. The seat is easy to unbolt and remove.

Some days I forget I even did this mod. The car should've come with it. Not one single regret and I would do it over again even though wiring isn't that simple.

Get outta here mike with your braggin.
:p

Just being nice and pointing out that it is possible with another vw product. :D

I am sure nothing has happened from complaint.

So the current SELs seats are "8-way power-adjustable including 4-way power lumbar support" according to VW and so, finally true 12-way?

... None :S
I'd read that as having 4 way adjustable lumbar instead of 2 way, so the front of the seat is still not adjustable.

I'd love to get a comment from a '15 owner on this.

My 2015 just has 8 way:

Seat bottom forward, back
Seat bottom up, down
Seat back forward, back
Lumbar in, out

I would LOVE to be able to move the lumbar support up. I'm a tall-ish guy and the lumbar support is near useless to me where it is.

That's all my 2014 does as well. I wish the seat bottom front had some up/down to it. My 2011 Tiguan could adjust the lumbar up/down, but it's gone here.

Yeah this is a resurrected thread- thought I'd read it before. Yes, our Passat SEL Premium can only be considered an 8-way. Compared to our 2004 SAAB, it lacks the capability to tilt the seat bottom. OTOH, the SAAB has only a knob on the side to adjust the lumbar, as opposed to the VW's power lumbar. Bottom line, would I like to have the seat tilt? Yes. Have I adapted to the VW seat? Yes.
