As a person who joined TDICLUB 12 days ago, my self interest was 100% in dieselgate issues.

I had already joined a C. A. S. and that was that.

While I did find some (many?) other persons on TDICLUB who were as upset as I was.

The vast majority of thinking was positive, forgiving and understanding about VW diesels cars.

My lack of understanding of VW loyalty was-is monumental.

Looking forward to taking my meds, trying to learn more, drive more in maybe the best (over all) car I ever owned

Anyway I enjoy being here:D

Many of us separate the vehicle from the branding.

While some people are exclusively into VW as a culture, and some are exclusively into diesels , I haven't seen any who care much about VW as a company.

That seemed true long before dieselgate. A lot of the so-called defending that people are reading in those related threads aren't about defense of the VW brand, per se. Rather, some are defending their diesels from being tampered with and devalued and others were simply trying to ratchet down the HennyPennying so people wouldn't get taken to the cleaners by their local dealerships or lowballers.

No need to apologize

There is no need to apologize. We were intentionally deceived by an arrogant bunch of SOBs who said one thing and did the opposite.
As much as I love my TDI, I am hoping for a buyback at full purchase price, after which i will run AFAP from these crooks. I also think that sending some of these a__holes to prison would be appropriate.

And some of us are still trying to figure out how we supposedly got harmed. It's the same car it was in August, nothing has changed, and I'm not stupid enough to sell it . . . I still see this situation as nothing more than a glorified poo flinging contest between the EPA and VW . . .

People are people. Everyone has their own situation / history / experience that influences how they are affected by events. I might be perfectly happy with my 2015 GSW TDI-S, and tickled to get a bonus giftcard package, but others may be more hurt and disappointed.

Heck, I picked up my GSW and a week later, the news broke... I sort of consider myself a little lucky that I was able to get my vehicle; while others weren't.

Welcome to the forums and the TDI world!

Setting aside the dieselgate krap....

I do feel sorry for those who can't buy one.

If some fix comes out that shortens engine life, drops performance or mpg or any other non-neutral thing, those in states which require emission recalls to be performed else no registration are 'harmed' the way I see it...

That would be 3 in my family... Calif isn't kind to ignoring emission recalls..

VW super engineers worked day and night to put the best of their abilities on the line in the first place.

If there WAS a fix without loss of something (or a lot of something) ~`~` they would have already done it ~`~` 6-7 years ago

You can bet your bottom dollar the fix will do harm.

We were harmed in a number of ways. Financially, the decline in resale value is well documented. Emotionally, owners have been harassed, embarrassed, or made to feel as though they broke the law, and we have all experienced some level of stress because of the uncertainty and lack of clear communications on cars we paid lots of money for.
They are the same cars they were in August, but I tend to disagree that nothing has changed. The discovery of VW's cheating and lying led to one of the biggest scandals in the history of the auto industry - I think that qualifies as "change".

Which still affects me absolutely *ZERO* . . . resale value is transient, and only matters if you try to sell . . . wait it out, and it may go up. No stress due to pinheads giving me crap here, and the scandal is not with me - it's the EPA and CARB. I just drive it, and my ability to do that is, as I said before, totally unaltered, and I'd buy another one immediately if they were for sale and I needed a car!

And I don't regard "butthurt" as grounds for legal compensation . . .

2010 Jetta Sportwagen DSG - Sold back to VW. Replaced with Sportwagen 2.5 GAS
Because when I bought my VW, nowhere on the sticker or any info given to customers it said how much NOx it emits. Volkswagen might have lied to the government. Big deal, government lies to people all the time. VOLKSWAGEN DID NOT LIE TO ME. Clean diesel is a marketing slogan just like ECO Boost or SkyActiv etc. People just like to feel like victims and are crying on this forum. VW broke the law. How many of the cry babies in here drive about posted speed limits? Go and get a Tesla recharged by electricity produced in a coal burning plant. What so environmental about that. And why do I drive diesel? Because all things equal diesels are more efficient than gas engines. I like torque and I don't like high RPM.

Torque Low RPMs HP MPG are some of the reasons I bought

Along with a killer price tag I paid. I took a month, and shopped many dealers. Never set foot in a VW showroom.

IMHO the lie was given to me on this matter.

I never owned a diesel, and was impressed with the resale value on VW gassers vs diesel.

I got a hefty price when I sold my 2003 Golf GSL ~`~`~` and I studied hard the KBB values on my car. I sold it over full bore dealer retail.

But had I owed a diesel (according to KBB) it was valued at about $3,000 more.

My decision to go diesel was like money in the bank ~`~`~` on the back side.

Funny the extra cost to get my 2015 Golf S Diesel was $2,950 more than gas.

Dieselgate has fried many owners, as we see here on the TDICLUB:mad:

2015vwgolfdiesel, don't be so down on yourself and don't let other's make you feel any different than you want to. Nobody is happy about it and I don't believe anyone who says it doesn't matter to them. Yes, it's a mess and a big deep hole VW has to dig themselves out of. But with the clever engineering VW took to create the cheat-software, and the compatible hardware to make it work, I hope they will 'engineer' themselves out of this mess eventually. If they can't, they'll either be mandated or choose to voluntarily buy some or all of them back, and I believe whatever decision comes out, it will be soon. We just have to be patient - easy to say for those of us who had no plans to trade or sell, but not easy to swallow if you were.
