And I already have 2200 miles on her. A couple of roadtrips from Portland to Boise and back, plus I drive up to Seattle each week for work.

Love the car. Hate the cheap plastic inside, poorly assenbled interior. And what the ***** is that box incased in styrofoam under the passenger seat. Styrofoam...

Alas, I bought the engine and the car came with it. It is a joy to drive, I bought the manual. Got 52 MPG from Portland to Seattle lat week, doing 65-70. The week before I got 46 MPG on the same trip. Wind, I guess.

Anyways, nice to read your thoughts and hope to get to know ya all better.

Enjoy it! It's a great car. I don't find mine poorly assembled. I know some people prefer the soft touch dash..makes no difference to me, still look forward to driving it every day! 14,000+ K's already

I am a newbie, too. Picked up my car last Monday and have 380 miles on it. Very happy with it so far, and glad I found this site.

I disagree with the OP about the "cheap plastic inside". To me it's great, especially compared with my Dodge Cummins (now gone).

Just bought mine two weeks ago, couldn't complain about anything but a whistling noise coming from the driver's side mirror. I drove my dad's 2005 Tacoma yesterday and was like..."what's wrong with his truck?" I realized that I've been driving my TDI...which is too smooth and quiet. I owned a 2005 Nissan 350Z before I bought my 2011 Jetta TDI, and I'm loving it!

I've had mine for 2 weeks tomorrow, and love it. Interior seems well constructed and solid. Couldn't care less about the hardness of the dash unless my head was bouncing off of it. Also have the "whistle", and the plastic on the turn signal arm is separated a bit. Other than those 2 minor fixes, love the car.

I have noticed alot of uneven seams where one panel meets another. I also test drove some Ford's and Hyundai's that had pretty awesome interiors, especially in the dash area.

But, none of em build a TDI. I like the way my cars handles at speed, can feel the German influence.

The vibration noise in the driver's side of the dash is driving me crazy. Considering tearing it apart to find/shim the culprit.

I think it's funny when people complain about the hard dash. My friends $50,000 Chevy Tahoe has the same dash. Hard plastic.

There are just too many to list....
The interior IS pretty cheap looking/feeling compared to the previous VW models, but is still not a bad feeling car to me, especially given it is several thousand dollars cheaper and larger to boot than the previous cars. So, you get what you pay for.

I like them well enough, but I probably would have saved $7k and just gotten the base gas engine and lived with 32 MPG.

IMO, the new Ford Forcus, Hyundai Elantra and Chevy Cruze dash are over kill! Their "Transformer" looks will go out of style very quickly. Too gimmicky for my taste.

The 2011 Jetta's dash is more traditional and will look good for many years. At least we don't have countless buttons to press!:D

The hard dash doesn't bother me none since 99.999% of the time my hands are on the steering wheel and not touching the dash.

And that steering wheel feels great!

In regards to a vibration in dash - well - it's under warranty, so talk to your dealer first. Don't mess up something to then not have the warranty cover it.

I was first pessimistic about the cheaping of the jetta.... but last i went in to a VW dealership for a CC.... after accepting the oppurtunity to test drive a 11 JettaTDi.... i fell in love. I did not think that the Jetta handles so well even with the cheaper suspension.... This is first TDi and i was impressed with power of a 140 hp engine. I traded in my 03 passat glx for the jetta and i have no buyers remorse....
From my experience.... hard dashboard are definately easier to clean.... and it looks solid. I am a very spirited driver and my dashboard does not rattle and the windows are shut air tight. I love the simplicity of the dash board and it is bit if a learning curve to completely understand the rns315 (i do wish the jetta came with the 510).... overall i love driving the car... it is fast, fun, and very economical...
