Hahahah, that's funny. You may have a point thereSo, it wasn't just a fluke. Someone at VW is trying to say something about who is responsible for misfueling...

Hahahaha, very true! On that logic, I bet if I called VWoA, the CS Rep would probably tell me I should thank them for that "feature".It's a feature. What better way to remind you than fighting with the stupid sticker/ring every time you have to fill up?![]()
You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off. This is what annoys me about this concept. First you design a gas cap holder, and then you design something that prevents you from using the holder you just designed. Who at VW really approved this sort of "fix"? Clearly it needs to go back to the engineers.
My fix was to locate it around the filler neck as common sense. But, c'mon VW you could really do better.

I think its better to have it around the filler neck. That way it is surrounding the hole when the nozzle is being inserted. You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off.
mine didn't fit in the groves. The inside diameter of the "rosette" was too large. You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off.
Even with it seated in the grove it was still knocked out when stowing the cap on my car.You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off.
Yuuuuuuuup!Even with it seated in the grove it was still knocked out when stowing the cap on my car.

Not certain this adds to the thread? You are correct, I should change my name to Nein!r LOL... What part of "no" don't you understand? You can't fix stupid. That includes people that should be giving driving their 100% attention, not talking on a smart phone or texting messages. They should give flammable or hazardous materials while fueling the same amount of attention... 100%. Some of America needs to shut up, sometimes. Around here, I have seen more motorcyclists hit by soccer moms in big SUV's talking on the phone instead of driving. It's a sign of the times. Women can be such drama queens.
Years ago, as a young man, I saw guns with huge bright yellow tags hanging off of the trigger guards sitting new in the rack at stores. Does it help? You tell me. VW does it to protect themselves from lawsuits from stupid people. Darwin would be disappointed that stupid species are not removed through natural selection from the gene pool.
Mine went on perfectly fine. It was snug, but once you got it in the groove it was a perfect fit. No issues with it coming off either. Just saying......mine didn't fit in the groves. The inside diameter of the "rosette" was too large.
X2. LOL. Put the yellow sticker on the inside of the door. Unless I go color blind I should be fine.I went with throwing the ring in file 13.
So a little yellow sticker and gas cap ring can cause such a big stir in the VW community?
VW should have done this a while back. Nonetheless, while I have no fear of filling the car with the wrong fuel, if I get those stickers in the mail, I'll apply them in the event someone else fuels my car, like a friend that uses it and wants to pay me back by filling up the tank with fuel. It's just an additional stage of warning to the motorist or person filling the tank to use diesel fuel.
My sticker fell off today too while refueling. What a joke. You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off.
I pushed mine firmly in the groove and it still popped off on a refuel. You have to push it into the groove to get it locked in and then it does not pop off.
Same here.I've put almost 1000 miles on my '13, and I've yet to see anything in the mail. (Goes without saying that mine didn't come with any of the yellow stickers to begin with)
Because it is a NHTSA recall, when you take it in for the next service, the dealer will have to put the stickers on. I don't think they have an option. When I took delivery on 7/13, I told my VW sales manager that I did NOT want the yellow sticker on my car while they were prepping my car. I am the only one who fuels the car anyway! If and when I get mine in the mail, I'm going to put it in the glove box as a keepsake.
You know that passat is assembled in USA right? Unless your passat is exported out of country there is no need for it to be in the port.I was told that VW has stopped all TDI shipments until they can install these stickers on new cars. We have a 2013 that is held at the port as we speak. The dealer told us that it will add 3 weeks to the delivery of our 2013 Passat TDI SEL...
