I wish! I would rather have that replaced proactively. It seems silly that they are recalling 2015s that are still relatively new and have no reported incidents, yet the earlier MKVIs with KNOWN pump problems have never been recalled. I get that it is probably related to a specific pump part #, but VW have been replacing pumps on their dime for models on the road. I feel that they are acknowledging a problem exists with that pump since they are paying for it, and in that acknowledgement should be proactive about replacing them. I don't want my pump to go out on me in traffic. Hopefully the Power Service lubricating features actually work and it's not just a fancy Cetane booster that smells good (during the summer).

2015 models have been on the road 6 months, and there is evidence enough that those fuel pumps are bad and have announced a recall?
This on the heels of NHSTA closing the books on fuel pump issues on previous models?

BTW, the BMW recall for Bosch pumps seem to be referring to gassers - am I wrong?
Is VW recalling 2015 Diesels or gassers?

sheesh.

Based on the linked post referring to BMW, Nissan, and VW, I am assuming this recall only covers gassers.

It could be gassers, because I've had friends with BMW gassers that had the pump recalled and replaced. Not a good sign for HPFPs in general. All the talk of improved new pumps looks like wishfull thinking. I hope not,but I will be watching this topic carefully before I buy another TDI. Basically there is no excuse for this type of problems after so many yrs of production.

Hasn't BMW had issues with their gasoline fuel pumps for several years?

Yup...
Going back to 2007....after a few years they recalled all BMW units on many cars, and stated to replace tham as needed on MINI's ( same unit)...and the "improved" unit is still failing regularly.... Only plus is they have dropped in price to a couple hundred $$ from well over a thousand...so cheap that many folks are opting to have third party shops do them on their own dime rather than deal with BMW/MINI...they require the car be left overnight to verify the operation on a cold start in most cases to warrenty them....the fact VW is having similar problems with a bosh unit I suspect is very similar is IMO expected...
Hopefully this is a sign that VW is trying to seriously improve their reliability by fixing stuff they know WILL FAIL and get them grief.... Maybe they will do something about the diesel hpfp that folks are having problems with....

I think the 2015 hpfp problems are several orders of magnitude more severe than ours-- just reading Audi s3 forums people are having their cars die in the middle of driving with less than 200 miles on the odometer.

Have to wonder if the recall reason is because BMW and or Nissan is being proactive in their reporting and action with NHTSA. Beats the deny, deny, blame the owner, deny

Ford just jumped on this bandwagon. Wonder how far it will grow?
