Hey all, I'm Brian. New to the forum. Purchased a 2016 A6 TDI last March, and have roamed/lurked here for a bit before finally deciding to join. A bit new to diesels (my first but probably not my last) but not to Audi. Planning to start with some simple mods once I am out of the factory warranty in 3500 miles.

Not new to TDiclub, but I am new to ownership.

Picked up an ‘11JSW 6MT with 55k miles.

Absolutely love it so far. Have put about 800 miles on in 4 days. 43 mpg on first tank. Some of it driving for mileage, some not. On the interstate with a little semi-drafting, 50 mpg seems easy enough.

I am amazed at how well equipped these things are. I have been reading the owners manual and continue to find out more stuff.

Greetings, new member here from Alabama, just picked up a used/new-to-me 2012 TDI Jetta, pretty basic features w/ 6sp manual. Nothing spectacular, other than diesel. I also have a 6.0 powerstroke, which I simply don't want to be my daily driver. I've always had company cars, and the latest promo eliminated that. The Super Duty is basically a highway hauler, but I'm a diesel enthusiast of sorts, and always liked the TDI's. First DPF diesel though, which will be addressed in the near future....

Hi! I'm new to tdi but not to VAG or diesel cars.
I just picked up a 2005 jetta tdi from a friend... it had skipped a tooth on the timing belt and I got it running. It goes pretty good but I am still fine tuning it all.
I have had MK1 rabbit, Audi allroad 2.7T (at that time I purchased my VCDS), and I now drive a Eurovan 2003 (I have 4 kids). This jetta is for a friend who needs a get around car so I'm fixing it up for him.
Only previous diesel experience I have is with the Land Rover td5 on a 2000 Defender 110 I had when living in the UK.
I look forward to learning and sharing my experience here!
Thanks in advance!
David

New here..

I have often visited the forums but just recently joined. I have a 2006 jetta tdi
bought new and have just over 200K. I love it. It's a stick and it came with the guitar (which I've never tried) but the stereo is awesome. I wish there were more out there, I'd scoop them up! Actually found one (another 06) but it is an auto and doesn't have a good stereo. Only 100K on it. Bought it for teens first car. Still I think it will last him many years if he takes good care of it.
Mine, I hope it will go another 200K.
So far, the turbo has been rebuilt and valves trimmed and a bypass on exhaust, timing/water pump done at 120k. last summer I had to have the auto window switch replaced. Next up I think the abs module and then I'll have to talk about another timing/water pump.
Great car.

My first post here. Just purchased a 2011 Red Sportwagen. Authorized Dealer source. Beautiful. I had a 2007 Passat 2.0T Wagon before this and got hooked on the brand engineering. 1st TDI here, hoping for just as good results as the Passat was.

Hey everyone, ive been lurking for a few months bought my 04 golf BEW about 2 months ago. Not terribly new to VAG used to have a 05 A6 2.7t but it died after about 9 months of ownership. This is my first diesel car but the community here seems to overwhelmingly helpful and I'm looking forward to learning all I can.

New to the VW club as well as the diesel club. 2014 Golf with 24K miles at the end of February, 2019. I am really enjoying this peppy little car and am planning on doing some mods and such to it after the CPO warranty and such expires so I am not screwing myself there.

old school newbie

Hey y'all! I am an old school VW type, just getting back into a VW. My brother and I had a Sircocco in 1978. Then I got the first 16V GTI when they came out in the metallic Garnet Red. I had a 2011 Golf TDI I sold back in the buy back and have had seller remorse since. So I just sold my 2012 Honda Fit, and bought a white 2013 CPO Golf TDI with DSG. It has 38k on it. As soon as I got in it, I knew it was like a fitted glove. So now I am off on trying see what I can do to improve on this little beast!

Hello to fellow Vdub owners.
Yes I'm new to Vdub never owned one before.
I recently bought a 12 SPW 50K miles clean for the most part. One owner. I was able to get all of the service records I think.

Original selling dealer had this on the lot after the CARB corrections.
I test drove a bunch of them before settling on this one.:)

Good morning,
Saying hi as its been a while, lurked this site years ago when my wife bought her new 2012 TDI sportwagen DSG. 160k miles later (we refused to turn it in), I just replaced my daily with a 2011 buyback 6speed sportwagen. Picked it up with high miles, have quite a lot planned for it, but I'm in full on preventative maintenance mode. Not planning to rely on a warranty.
Actively looking for 2micron fuel filter option, or converting my car to the CP3 pump.
lots to research...

2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDI DSG (bought 5.29.2019)...2002 VW Jetta wagon GLS 2.0L (gas) RIP 5.19.2019 due to accident
possibly TDI buyer/owner

Hello all!

I'm a long-time VW fan, short-time lurker on this forum, and potential TDI owner. After my 2002 VW Jetta wagon was totaled last weekend after being rear-ended on the freeway by an ugly Toyota pickup, I'm looking to purchase a 2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen as its successor. I've looked at a few, and may purchase one I test drove yesterday, with the following specs:

- 2014
- 43,000 miles
- one owner, California-purchased and driven car
- 10 service record histories (as noted in the clean Carfax)
- white exterior with black leatherette interior
- DSG (would love a manual though!)
- pano sunroof
- navigation system
- push button start
- great condition, with no scratches or dents, or accidents (again, noted in the clean Carfax)
- dealer is asking $11,995

The price seems reasonable for the vehicle's history, mileage, and specs, and unlike the vehicles that were bought back by VW and sat for over a year in lots, this one was privately owned until August of 2018, when the modification was performed.

I paid $12750. The car was listed for $13200. I told them to put in the tint as well. This picture was done before the windows were tinted. I think I paid a little too much but I’m happy with it. There aren’t that many 6 speeds left from what I was told.

Hey folks, I am new to the TDI world, I love my diesel pickup, but needed something that got better gas mileage to run back and forth to work. I found a 2005 Beetle TDI 5-speed with 114,000 miles on it for what I thought was a decent price. So far, I love it, had a couple small things to deal with, but it has been good. I would like to smack whoever did the last oil change and cross-threaded the drain plug, but the oil pan replacement wasn't too horrible. Now to just search the forum and figure out how to get my car to fuel normally and I'll be good to go!

From the Dealer I bought it from:
Heated cloth seats, power moonroof,
Monsoon stereo...
This car has had a ton of maintenance done to it over the past year including but not limited to:
Timing belt done at 94000. Michelins new at 105000. All fluids been changed Amsoil throughout. New Bosch glow plugs and VW harness just done so no dash light codes at all. New alternator battery, battery cables. New brakes and rotors new Moog springs and Koni shocks, alignment all around. New fuel pump. No issues ac cold and drives excellent.

Welcome aboard! See if you can get a list of what was done during the TB change and confirm they used VCDS as part of the service.

Welcome! You can get a topside oil extractor from IDparts. Works great and no jacking up the car for an oil change. Let's you evacuate the oil filter area, too.

Not that it saves you from replacing the pan since you've done that, but it's still convenient.

Howdy folks! Checking into the forum with an early thank you for the information here convincing me to go for my 2014 JSW TDI 6MT.

I traded my 2012 2-door manual GTI for it and am very happy so far.

I look forward to contributing where I can!

New account, Previous member

Hi All!

I am a returning member to the forum i just have a new account. I abandoned the old account due to security issues.

Anyway, I bought my first tdi in 2015. It was a white jetta with 40,000 miles on it. Shortly after i bought it the emissions scandal from VW started coming to light. Even with the scandal i told myself i was giong to run the car until it died.

In late 2017 i came across a 2015 jetta tdi with only 8,000 miles. VW paid me for my old tdi and i bought my current tdi which is a 2015 Jetta TDI SEL, moonrock silver in color. I went from a 2012 with 90,000 miles to a 2015 with 8,000 miles for only about $3200 out of pocket. I bought into the VW tdi at just the right time! It was hard giving up my white tdi though bc i loved how it looked all polished up.

I have loved driving my tdi and the fuel mileage is outstanding. I plan on driving my tdi until it no longer runs. I look foward to conversing with fellow tdi owners again on here and learning as much as i can about tdi's

Decided to become a member

Ello all, I decided to become a member as I have used this site for the last year. I own a silver MkIV Golf with its little 1.9L 4-cylinder and it currently has 225,000 miles. Just put a EGR delete and rebuilt the fuel pump, and I plan on doing many more mods to get as much mpg and power this little thing has to give.

One question though: The rear hatch (trunk) door has been stuck closed for the past year, anyone have any advice for this?

You'll have to crawl through from the back seat with a Phillips-head screwdriver and a flashlight to remove two screws, then pry the hell out of the inside panel of the hatch. You should be able to see what's wrong -- possibly the mechanism just needs to be thoroughly lubed. (Note that a friend did this for me but I watched and learned.)

I'm finally a TDI owner - a 2014 JSW with 43,000 miles on the odometer, and fully optioned out. While the panoramic sunroof and navigation are really nice to have, I'm particularly enamored with the little details this car offers, such as:

- the cargo management blocks with velcro that allow you to better secure your cargo and prevent it from shifting;
- the footwell lighting that can stay illuminated as you're driving;
- the household style AC outlet in the rear of the center console; and
- the coat hooks that are positioned on the B-pillars, making it a perfect place to hang your coat while still enabling rear passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.

It's really all in the details. I'm just now reading the owners manual, cover to cover, and hope to learn about more exciting features that I can enjoy for many years and drives to come.
