Just thought I would post up some pictures on how well it looks our TDI held up to a rear end from a Toyota Camary today. His car looks to be in pretty bad shape and was towed away. Our TDI is only 3ish months old :(

Defiantly going to the dealer to fix this so I can make sure they use OEM parts since the other guys insurance will be paying.

in the last picture it looks like the seal from the bottom of the spare tire area is broken near the left side. Also you can see the dents on the picture before the last in the seal there. They will need to fix that up properly.

That will buff right out. I hate when that happens. Yes it looks like the Yota got the worst of it. That'll teach it to tangle with a TDI.

I did go to the dealer and they sent me to the body shop they deal with which I happen to know does very good work as I have had family members go to them before. This location deals a lot with higher end cars.

Went there yesterday and they said they have to order a new bumper for sure however it will take 1-2 weeks so once they get it in stock they will call me to drop off the car.

Yeah - good call on asking your dealer about a body shop.

We had to have someone minor done to our car and when I went to check on progress they were working on a Ferrari 430 - figured it was in good hands. Also. They are the ones that do a lot for the MB and BMW dealers in Seattle.

Also figure the paint on the trunk lid is now better than factory - match is perfect though.

OMG! This sucks! This ONLY has happened to me in NEW cars! Back in 97 my 98 Nissan Frontier for rear ended and again in 06 when driving my dad's new Taco. At least all of my VW's have been safe! Then again I have never owned a new VW.

Glad to hear that they ordered a new bumper, while the skin still looks good the collapsible components under the bumper that protected your car from any damage are probably trashed. You can't see them until you take the bumper off so good call by the repair shop! There should be some sacrificial supports and foam under there that crushes on impact and prevents the shock from getting to the expensive sheet metal...... one use only!

Pictures are still there, Must be because you are at work, I'm linking them from facebook so if your work blocks facebook that would be why you cant see them.

Try again when you get home :)

Nope the Canadian version of the TDI (lowest model) does not come with the chrome tips unless you add it on.

the damage is not that extensive. A good body shop should do great job. You don't have to take it to a dealer. The dealer usually do not have body shop and will refer to some body shop. You can tell the body shop that you want OEM body panels. My experience shows nonOEM are equally good.
