New Sportswagen

Well I took the dive, and picked my new 2010 Sportswagen on Friday. Graphite blue, black interior, automatic, sunroof, mats and ipod...

Had to drive about 250 miles home from the dealer - had a great time playing with the toys. First half tank mostly highway, maybe 260 miles hwg 50 miles city.. got 38.5 mpg - which was better than I expected coming out of the gate.

First VW, first Diesel - and must say the German feel is different and fun. The automatic transmission is a different than I am used to, seems to downshift aggressively when going very slow.

Overall - first impression - fantastic, as advertised. I am looking forward to a problem free experience! ;-)

Which dealer/city did you get it from? How was the buying experience from that dealer? And which dealer do you plan on servicing it with?

Congrats on the purchase. It really is a well rounded automobile that deserves no buyers remorse. Enjoy.

Dealer Information

I live in Raleigh NC - but bought the car at Radley VW in Woodbridge, VA. Ordered and negotiated trade-in etc... over the phone. No issues when I arrived dealer did not play any games. Pain free purchase.

I did not buy locally as the local dealers were not getting the car I wanted in stock for months, and would not agree to terms.

I am unsure which dealer I will use, choice is between Southern States in Raleigh (closer to me) or Leith VW in Cary. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I talked to the dealership about that one (pretty sure it was that one) earlier last week. I took a pass on it because another dealer had a red one coming in. Picked mine up Thursday night.

I bought my car at Leith VW in Cary and figured I would take it back there. Though I am also interested in any feedback. My experience at Leith was trouble free.

Great, probably not mine as I had put down a deposit... but regardless congrats o nyour new car. Lets hope we have many good years ahead!

I would NOT recommend Southern States in Raleigh. They were clueless when it even came to buying a TDI, let alone fixing one. I bought my first TDI at Southern States, went back last weekend to try and buy another. But, I was so un-impressed with them that I doubt I'll ever go back.

Do the mats you got cover the cargo area even when the rear seats are down ? If so let me know what kind you have.

No - the mats don't cover the entire back when the seats are donw. The rear mat goes up against the back of the seats when they are up... rubber bottom cloth top...
