jthesby, in Concord there is an excellent body shop called Bay Auto Body. If you ever need any body or paint work I highly recommend them. They have done repairs on several of my cars including my TDI. Mine had a crinkled fender when I bought it. Todd and Brian do some of the best paint work I have ever seen. Yuri can do amazing things with metal. They are located on Arnold Industrial near Kinder's not far from the old drive in.

Ok, went to pick up the car today. I did accept the car, but drove it straight to Allstate to complain. Seems that when the sofa first hit the car, it left a slight dent in the door. The body shop repainted that part but of course, did not push out the dent. I could see the slight indentation when I pulled up. Using the parking lot lines reflecting off the door, one can clearly see that there is a slight dent which they did not fix. This after I pointed out the dent to them twice. My Allstate agent looked at the car and also saw the problem, so he'll be contacting their claims person on Monday for me.

I suspect I'll have to bring it in for this claims person to take a look, and the car will probably go back to the body shop for the third time. All this for a pretty simple job. Just amazing...if it we're not for the guarantee, I would have taken it someplace else since I know which shops are good in my area. So the saga continues on...

Dan and Norman are the best people.

I just wanted to say thanks to the old timers and their amazing TDI's.
I bought my TDI the weekend of Peters Townhouse TB party.
I guess i am coming out of hiding and attending some upcoming GTGs
It will be great to meet some of the new crowd that is keeping thing alive in SFO.

1.So here is a Question I have PP520 From Oct2003 still in box. If i install should i get a chip to control smoke and add power or are they OK by them self. I have no other mods.

2. Witch vendor would DBW recommend to purchase TB Kit From.

Thanks Cloudbase1

Hey Cloudbase1, long time no talk!

Thanks for the kind words! It's much appreciated.

1. Your car will be fine with just PP520s. You don't need a chip to control the smoke. Your car might have a bit of haze at night, but you should be fine. If there is smoke, you can adjust the IQ via vag com to control the smoke. But, you'll love the power and I would suggest you get a chip anyways. NewTDI is hosting a GTG next weekend and Kerma will be there. I would suggest you contact him and get chipped, or at least talk to him to get some ideas.

2. Vendors you can trust to get the right timing belt kit is dieselgeek, metalman, and bleachedbora. Dieselgeek has the most complete kit, but you can't go wrong with any of the three.

As Zippy said, your clutch may or my not be too happy but I know of several folks who just had the nozzles upgraded and they had no clutch problems. Just be prepared that you "might" need a new clutch sometime down the road. If you add a chip, you'll definitely need a new clutch.

I know the feelin. My golf went back to Jim's California Auto Body in Concord twice, after i was not satisfied... It's still not "right":(, basically told them off and said it wasn't worth my time and hassle to leave it there AGAIN.. there's still a huge gap between the rear hatch and body(i can easily stick my finger in there, they said that that's how they are new, i told them B.S:mad:) But for some reason they replaced my taillights, and the originals were just fine:confused: So i'd sugest to anyone in the area to stay away from them. Hope things work out better for you, and enjoy the long weekend:)
Took my contour svt to Jim's in concord after i rear ended someone. When it came back the hood did not line up correctly, they put the wrong grill on it, there was overspray all over the rear bumper, and to top it off my seat was leaned way back in ghetto fab position and my radio stations had been changed.

I got my car back a week and a half ago and it is looking about as it did before my rear-ender. The guy wouldn't go with an aftermarket exhaust, though, so a factory replacement was installed.

i backed into a post this weekend and crunched the bumper and drivers tail light for my jetta wagon. No other damage really so I'm in the market for those two parts. It hurts but could have been much worse.

Edit: Turns out I need the rear bumper COVER, and the rear underbumper SPOILER, not the bumper itself, as well as the drivers side tail light. I also need an underbelly engine shield and right splash shield. Apparently cracked these some time ago. Noticed them at the last GTG and they hit the ground dragging last week. If anyone hears of a part out '03 wagon, pls let me know.

Hi everyone! I was thinking about topics and things to do for our August GTG. Any suggestions are appreciated! Perhaps a drive up/down the coast or the sierras with BBQ lunch somewhere?

The July GTG is postponed until August 12th since I am waiting for confirmation of the "Meet Junior" event at Stanford University.

Junior has to go thruogh some majot testing, so it is not going to come to us this month, maybe a month from now, but I will have more info Wed evening after a meeting. But it will happen, just do not know when and do not feel like pushing them.

Hi all,

New TDI owner (2003 Jetta GLS 5spd) and hoping to meet y'all at a GTG =)

I am rapidly approaching 50K miles; can someone recommend a mechanic or dealer who will treat my TDI well? San Jose area preferred, but anywhere between SF and Monterey is good.

Howdy, folks. Where to get my oil analyzed locally? Or does everyone send their samples across country for UOA? I just put on a DieselGeek bypass filter kit, getting serious about oil change intervals as my warranty will be up soon.
