New powertrain warranty?

I just got an email blast from the dealer where we have been buying our cars and it is basically states that 2011 Touareg is covered by VW's 36000 mile bumper to bumper / 100,000 power train and includes the 36000 miles complimentary service. Has anyone bought a 2011 Tourag yet? I'm wondering if this is a new VW thing or just this dealer. I think this would be great if VW extended the power train to 100K on all their vehicles.

I don't know if it applies to all dealers or models, but you are not the first to report it. It may be designed to get you used to the idea of having regular service done by VW, a sales tool or whatever. It has been reported that at least some dealers are using it as a tool to add on, non-covered services at your expense.

I would read any documentation carefully and I would be shy about letting them do repairs or maintenance not covered 100%.
