Found some good pics of back of unit:

:)

Bad news,

We are having a hard time finding this Navi unit. Two Chinese dealerships called, no Navi available.

Checked in Germany, part number is obsolete :(

I have emailed Desay Automotive and have not gotten a response yet. We will try calling Desay (Singapore) to see if they still have this Navi.

We still don't have any positive confirmation that the VW Navi works with MFD and Multifunction steering wheel or the US DVD maps, right?

We're done....

Good morning!

We have VW model, but not this part No. Is it OK? PLS see attached files for your reference. The current VW model is without iPhone/iPod function.

Before I prepare the sample, could you let me know your rough qty/sales channels first?

Thanks

So I translated this from Graeme's link above:

I have the navigation for 2 weeks at home. The radio reception is good. No RDS and no AF. There is no navigation to find maps and navigation will only work from the SD card. I tried to copy the software on a different SD card and insert the card European one, but it does not work.

I have also tried to fit the front of the Navi on an original RNS510. Unfortunately, it is not past. Unfortunately, it is not past.

Maybe kan someone help me how I can customize the software.

We have also triple confirmed that we cannot buy this Navi from a VW dealership. We have contacted several of them with no luck.

I have no idea how this guy bought one but it doesn't see to work for him anyway.

After reading a few Chinese forums they do not seem to have the capability to display in the FIS at all - not even the radio stations etc :(

Hi there. I'm the guy that has bought the Chinees MFD. It is a nice radio.
It works with Multifunction steeringwheel, uses can wiring from tacho. But no FIS info displayed.
You can connect an iPod on it like on a old MFD. it reads mp3 cd
after months of searching still haven't found a working navigation map.

if you have any questions, you can contact me.

Little update

I sold system as It wasn't realy functional in the Netherlands. For radio reception we need RDS to follow the correct radio station. But the system did not support RDS.
Also it was for me not possible to get navigation working. It only came with maps of china no european maps. The software looks a lot like the RNS510 but navigation runs on SD card. System doesn't have a harddisk. If I checked reception of GPS signal it functioned perfect. Tried to install SD navigation of RNS315, no result.
I have also tried to put the front of the system onto a RNS510 but that system was complete different. So no luck with the system.

Unit is working :)

Had to make up a bunch of adapters for aerials and mini-ISO - Quadlock CD changer plug:

Swapped the ISO radio plug terminals straight into the new Quadlock.

Also had to put a FAKRA plug onto the OEM roof aerial harness to convert the DIN-ISO radio plug end for the new radio aerial adapter:

Shot of rear:

Radio and Navi aerial FAKRA plugs, 26 pin plug for rear view camera connection (plus, minus & reverse) and normal Quadlock plug for power, speakers and CD changer.

Did not slide into OEM Mk IV Radio cage fully to start off with.

Eventually ripped the cage out in order to find all these little quirks stopping it from going in properly!

Radio cage needed some very slight modding to file a small slot for an extra tab on each side of unit to slide through.

Also needed further minor clearancing due to a securing metal tab under the bottom middle of face of unit.

Also needed to grind down some of back right corner of cage to clear the camera plug.

All good now!

:)

Hello dieseltje

Yes, normal comfort CAN connection works to give illumination/ignition etc.

Map file must be able to fit on 2GB SD card.

I think Euro map file is too big. :-(

From the manual I translated:

A memory card with a size of 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or 1.4 mm can be inserted into the SD card socket.
The system can read SD memory cards with capacities up to 2G.
Can not read other physical memory cards, such as newer SDHC memory cards.

Map stays on SD card, not uploaded into unit like RNS510.

So cannot use music .mp3 on SD card at same time if navigation map is being used.

Cannot put map on DVD or upgrade software via DVD either.

Nothing displays in instrument cluster.

id3 tags show up on the navi screen when you play an mp3 though
