I am back to the TDI world - just bought a 25k miles old, CPO 2014 Jetta SportWagen yesterday. Really excited. I used to have a 2014 Jetta TDI sedan which I returned after the recall in 2017. From driving since yesterday, what i noticed is that the engine noise level is somewhat higher from pre-recall TDI. Other than that, power and acceleration seem to be the same.

So how much did you get from VW when you turned it back. And how much did you pay for the new one?


I got $17000 for mine. It was 2010 with 92K and bought a geasser 2.5 2011 with 52K for $7200. . However I still miss the TDI. But here in Michigan a gal of Diesel is exactly $1 more expensive than Gas. So really there isn't any savings.

i think i got about $22k for a 2014 TDI @40,000 during buyback. the sportwagen was 12.7k out-the-door. traded in my 2009 Jetta wolfsburg 2.0TSI gasser at 136,000 miles for $2.3k. I noticed during the walk around that the sportwagen had all new tires and shiny new brake rotors so decided on it.
