New Member & To TDI's

Hi All,

I'm new to the TDI Club forum and TDI's but not new to VW's. Last weekend I drove the JSW TDI to see what it was like and absolutely loved it. So, this past weekend I put in an order for a TDI JSW (see signature for details) with expected delivery around mid Feb 2010. This is going to be a looooong wait!

I've been hanging around the forum for a few weeks and look forward to learning much from all of you and hopefully in time I'll be able to return the favour. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

What is the PANZER thingy people have been mentioning?

"Panzer" is an aftermarket Skid Plate and is designed and built by Diesel Geek a long time TDIClub member!

You might want to check with Chris at VW of Langhore PA he sells cars
here at great prices and he may be able to get you a car sooner and for less money!

Congrats, fleuger! You've got a great color on order. The graphite blue has a fair amount of paint flop to it. Depending on the light, it can look blue, grey, nearly black, or purple. And it's a nice paint flop though...nothing like some aftermarket high-flop paints that transition from bright purple to baby-poop brown

I just checked out vw of Landhorne and everyone one of their TDI JSW are sold It would also be quite a hall from Southern Mass to the dealership to save a few bucks. I got the car for MSRP which I hear is pretty much the norm except for some dealers adding surcharges which I'd never pay.

Yes, I loved the colour the second I saw it. My last four cars have been either silver or grey and I though it was time for change. Please post some pics of yours, I'd love to see it. Thanks for the welcome!

By the way it is not that big of a haul to there from Mass........Last week a guy flew in from Washington and home accross
the country........I took the train up and was picked-up at the train station

Thanks for the info. I'll give him a call for sure. I have the added complexity of a trade though. I bought a new 2009 Subaru Legacy 3.0 LTD which is loaded. I've only had the car for 6 months but hate it. It is my first Japanese car ever and thought I'd give it a try but I want to ditch it and come back to VW. I know I'm going to take a hit on a 6 month old car but willing to do that as long as the trade is fair. What was I thinking buying a Subaru!?

I spoke to Chris today from Langhorne VW and he had a few TDI JSW's that will be at the dealership in the next two weeks so I no longer have to wait until Feb for mine. I had five cars to choose from and went with a vehicle that had everything I wanted with only the MDI as an extra but something I can easily live with. He's calling me back today with final pricing and I'm trading a car in so he's going to get some numbers for me on that as well. The car I chose has the 17" wheels which I don't want because I plan on putting snow tires on the 16" standard wheels and then in the spring I'm thinking of getting some VMR 708's in 18" and some summer rubber to go with them. Chris said he would credit me the $450 and get the standard 16" wheels for me instead. He said it will be easy for him to sell the 17's as many customers want those.

Anyone know if the iPhone 3G works through the MDI?

Anyone know if the iPhone 3G works through the MDI?

I have a 3GS, and it works well. It will ask you if you want to go into airplane mode when you first plug it in, because it says it is not designed for use with the iPhone. Just say no, and continue on. Also, if you let your song play through and it goes to the next song, the new song title will not display. The correct length will display, but the old song title remains. On mine every other song title will display correctly. If I skip to another song it displays correctly. Other than that it works exactly like a dock. Your songs/playlists all show up. The bluetooth AD2P works very nice as well, I mainly use it for pandora/slacker radio. Enjoy the new ride.

Thanks for the info. I also have the 3GS - 16GB phone. I was not too charmed to hear JSW only comes with the Blue Tooth lite. I think its really cheap of VW not to include the phone book download that is available in the GTI & Golf. I've seen a person on the forum upgrade the hardware and he said it wasn't difficult so eventually I'll upgrade it to full BT capability.

I got the numbers from Chris at Langhorne VW in PA as Tomo366 suggested I do.

The car is a TDI JSW in Graphite Blue, NAV, Panoramic Roof, DSG, MDI and Mat Kit. The car arrives in port on Dec 9th and expected dealer arrival is Dec 19th. I'm off the week of 23rd Dec so I'll probably go down then to pick it up.
