VOLKSWAGEN LAUNCHES ALL-NEW JETTA IN S.KOREA
SEOUL, May 2 Asia Pulse - Volkswagen Korea, the local importer of German automaker Volkswagen, on Monday introduced the two newest versions of the Volkswagen Jetta passenger vehicle in South Korea.
The new Jetta comes in two trims with either a 1.6-liter TDI BlueMotion engine that produces 105 maximum horsepower and 25.5 kilogram-meters of maximum torque or a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 140 maximum horsepower and 32.6 kilogram-meters of maximum torque.
Equipped with Volkswagen's BlueMotion technologies, the 1.6 model has a fuel economy of 22.2 kilometers per liter, one of the highest in its segment, while the 2.0 model offers an average fuel efficiency of 18 km per liter, according to Volkswagen Korea.

"The all-new Jetta with an enlarged body, attractive new designs and powerful performances, along with its environmentally friendliness and efficiency, offers the best values that cannot even be compared to those offered by any others in its segment," Volkswagen Korea president Park Jong-hoon said.
The local price of the 1.6 TDI BlueMotion model was set at 31.9 million won (US$29,900) with that of the Jetta 2.0 TDI model set at 34.9 million won. Both prices are inclusive of value-added tax.

It's disgusting that we can't get the smaller TDI in North America that is put into a car designed for this market. It's also disgusting to see that only diesels are offered in the jetta in Korea. There is a 30% gain in mileage with the 1.6 bluemotion TDI over the 2.0 TDI. That would easily put the jetta sedan at 50 mpg highway.

It would also need a proper transmission, and some type of suspension that was not so man-boob-punishing, and a price tag that was not out of this world.
Might that be the VW Polo? :)

I know - bigger than a Smart.

Still waiting to see if VW brings the diesel with the first round of Polos. Let's hope they decide to bring at least as many diesels and gassers. Or better yet, let's forget the gasser and only bring diesels!

Yes, we also have that engine on VW Passat, Golf, Jetta, Polo, Touran
Audi has it on A1 and A3
Skodas have them
Seat have them.
Some 5 speed, others 6 speed or option 7 speed DSG.
MPG is the same
On mine at the moment I get 6.0L city and 4.5-5.0L outside city, going speed limit

Doesn't the after market offer dpf deletes for these new cars? I'd think if they did mileage would go up exponentially. First thing i did when i got my 08 power stroke dually was get rid of that a$$ backwards crap. Went from i mind numbing 8.3mpg to 18. How was this supposed to save the environment again?

If you delete the DPF, would you not also delete the warranty? And also stand the chance of failing the emmisions tests? There are many states that require emmisions testing for cars and trucks. Not sure how many are currently testing diesels, but I would hate to do a DPF delete only to be told at the next inspection that I have to reinstate the DPF. In NC, they do not currently have an emmsions test for diesel but that doesn't mean that they're not working on it.

I borrowed a friends Dodge 1500 gasser this weekend. It was averaging 11 mpg. No DPF to delete there for better mileage! Where oh where is the Amarok?

Too hard on these cars - drop front subframe plus some every time? I don't think so.

Difference between a truck and a car I guess. I'll live my TDI alone for now, my truck however is already being modified. Mocking up a 64/85mm twin setup for it now to get rid of the pretty little turbo's on the truck right now.

But back to the topic, America never get's the cool stuff.

I wish all these environmentalists would just suck start a shot gun.

Slightly off topic here...What does Ford say about using fuel additives? What do you use if at all?

Ford actually has an additive they sell to P-Stroke owners. It's mainly a cetane booster and cleaner. I had a friend who was losing an injector in his truck. He dumped the whole gallon of this stuff (good for 500 gallons of fuel) and a gallon of Power Service and Two stroke oil in his tank. Half way through the tank white smoke cleared up, the code for injector 7 went away and idled smooth. No more fuel in oil too. I use power service right now. Cost savings compared to price is non-existent, but i got 15 gallons of this stuff for free when my friends husband cheated on her and he got kicked out :).

Mainly i use it to protect my injectors. At 250x8, it's cheap insurance.

I own a 2001 7.3L f250, great truck, I use the silver bottle additive.

Any threads on doing the DFP delete on our TDI's?

Yeah, I kinda figured other manufacturers recommended using fuel additives in their diesels.
