Installed new hpfp . Timed everything back , ran lift fuel pump at least 4 times. Car not starting. Is there something additional needs to be done? I install back old pump and it s tarts . By putting in new pump, is there something need to be done with vcds besides purging air out?

Try swapping the sensor mounted on top of it? I can recall the name of it.

Thanks. I did do that. Still nothing. I re-installed original one and it started.I'm kind of leaning towards my hpfp is good; no metals, cam lobes, roller, etc.. inside the pump all look good, no scuffs, or anything. I installed new fuel pressure regulator valve. Car starts fine but still have the p0087 low fuel pressure rail. I tried new regulator as original clicked very weakly when put battery to leads per testing instructions. The new one has a loud click so thought i'd give it a shot. I'm wondering if this valves need to to be adjusted/adapted or something with vcds ?

There is nothing else to be done except from fuel priming, are you sure you got the correct pump and not one that goes in the opposite direction?

Pump only went one way. Checked part numbers and they matched except for maybe last letter-mine ended with AB for example and the new one ended with A.

I think you can turn an R or L pump either way, but it will only truly pump fuel when turn in the correct orientation.

Ok, so while all this is happening, I took fuel injectors to local shop to be tested. Results indicate one of the injectors has excessive return volume due to faulty valve. Tech stated that this valve has a dual function:injection and return. So it injects fine, but returns too much..??

Given this, would that explain possibly the reason for the fuel rail pressure too low fault? If so, how? I'm thinking that if fuel is being returned, the result would be high pressure instead of low.Am I thinking this right? Also, would this return be shown in "vcds fuel pump show measuring values"?

Car starts and drives fine for about 15 miles then glow plug starts flashing, car goes into limp mode.
