Hello TDI club!

My name is Jb and this past Friday I made one of my all time best purchases, my first ever VW and my first ever Diesel...:)

2011 Jetta TDI w/Nav - DSG

Options include:

*Tint
*Chrome Appearance
*Rubber Mats
*Car-go Trunk System

Picking her up:

Home with her long lost Japanese cousin:

A few things that I will say to the enthusiast/haters/fanboys. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the new Jetta. Everyone is talking about the step backwards that VW took in creating this new platform, but they forget to think about the people like me who are buying this car as a nice DD under 25k. I could have bought an A3 TDI but for a car that is made for mileage (Jetta TDI) why would I spend nearly double the cost for an Audi just to put thousands of miles on it? Soft touch interior? A multilink rear suspension that I will never put to use? Electric steering that I cant service?

People need to realize that VW 'was' well ahead of themselves, as far as options, materials, and the biggest thing PRICE, for the market segment they were trying to appeal to. To the enthusiast/haters/fanboys who think this new Jetta or any new Americanized VW has been dumbed down or cheapened up for the worse I say go pay the premium for an Audi. I would never had bought a TDI for a penny over 30k+ just to put 20,000 miles on it per year.

So far I have put just over 200 miles on the car in just two days and love every moment of it. Im here to answer any questions about the new Jetta TDI, but again keep in mind, this is my first VW, and first Diesel I have ever owned.

Cheers,
~Jb

Welcome to the club newbie! I'm just a lurker in this section as I've yet to upgrade from my 99.5 Jetta.

Congrats on your purchase. What is the chrome appearance option? Is this an interior bling thing?

lol... Thanks for the welcome guys (even without the pistol)

To answer your question b1, some of the chrome including the interior came as part of the Navi package, but mine had another option for more chrome including a god awful tailpipe. I will post the option code when I get home and look at the window sticker.

do you have a white door pillar? my white on tan jetta has a black door pillar.
No, the picture was just after my test drive and the car was still all wrapped in plastic. What you see in the picture is the white plastic covering the black B pillar.

The car was actually still completely wrapped when I first saw it, I went to the dealer to order a TDI and they had 3 in the back wrapped in plastic, just off the truck. the dealer got mine in on thursday afternoon, I bought it friday night. It was like a late xmas present.

I will take some proper photos one night this week.

well there goes my theory

Yeah I must say I am enjoying driving my JTDI more and more everyday. Over 250 miles on it in 5 days and used less then a 1/4 tank is a great feeling. :D

Not to mention that I have yet to see another around town (phx), and have gotten many thumbs up from older Vdubs, and lots of looks from everyone else.

Pssst! your car comes with electric steering, its only the gas models that get hydrolic steering ;)

congrats on the new ride. I have a 2011 Jetta TDI and already put 11000kms on it and love it! :)
I wasn't sure I believed you but here's the confirmation from MyTurboDiesel.com

-Steering: while the gasoline Jetta lost the electric power steering and now use hydraulic power steering, the 2011 TDI is confirmed to keep electric power steering. This saves energy vs. a hydraulic system which is pressurized all the time vs. just when you need power assist.

congrats on ur new car looks just like mine haha how dark of tint did u get?
Thank you sir, not sure on the tint %, because I refused to pay the dealer for it I did not ask many questions about it. Its dark enough to not see in, but light enough to see out at night without trouble.

I think you are talking about a bracket to hold a license plate facing forward?

If so, the state of Arizona does not have a law requiring a license plate to be placed in the front of the car, so no car for sale or sold in AZ comes with a dealer installed plate bracket. the bracket does not even come with the car, im sure a person could ask for one, but whats the point, unless someone wants to have a novelty plate. The best part is no ugly holes.

I hope that answers your question. :)
