I'll be driving to Reno this coming saturday to pick-up my new Golf GLS TDI
I was treated to a real fair deal by Tim Rebaldo at the Reno VW dealership.
I will use Mickeys break-in procedure on the way back to ca. Many thanks to Fred's TDI club and the many posts on the forum
Just can't get the smile offin my face......

Alien- can I ask what price you got? I just bought an 01 Golf GLS TDI with lux, monsoon and CWP for 21k. I imagine I got a little on the screwed side, as I had my heart set on this particular car and they knew it(and there wasn't another car remotely like it available).

In January I bought my 2001 Golf GLS with lux for $18.5+TTT. Was $21k what you paid including tax, tag, title, and all fees? If so, then that's not too bad. If not, yikes.

21k did not include the title fees (which amounted to about 65 bucks) nor the $490 accquisition fee (which they never mentioned until paperwork time).

No tax though, since I live in Oregon.

Did you buy your car off the lot? I was very specific about what I wanted, and there was only one around(still in transit from the POE), so they pretty much had me on the ropes.

Yeah, I bought mine off the lot. It wasn't the color that I wanted, but it was the only one for hundreds of miles in any direction, so I went for it. I think it all depends on the dealership and how bad they want to make the sale... the dealer I bought it from deals in a LOT of volume, so they're probably more willing to go for a lower price.

In any case, who cares as long as you love the car!? Have a great time driving your new TDI!

DavinATL, I see from your post you too are from the Atlanta area, can you tell me where you got your TDI? Was it Jim Ellis? I am trying to talk to them right now about a Golf GLS with lux and a 5 speed, at about the same price! If that is the case, then that is good news for me! Which location did you go to? Chamblee or Marietta?

Dieselwagon,

Yes, I used Jim Ellis. My fiancee bought her 2000 Jetta 2.0l there about a year and a half ago and had an OK experience. They were the only dealer in the area with any new TDIs. I almost bought a used 2000 Golf TDI from Dwight Harrison, but when I went to buy it with my financing in order, someone had signed the papers 5 minutes beforehand! I literally passed the guy coming out as I walked into the showroom!

Anyway, I went to the Chamblee location and I dealt with Orlando Ramirez. I bought a Golf TDI 5 speed + lux, which sounds exactly like what you are looking for. I don't have the exact figure with me, but it was in the mid $18000's, $18.5k or $18.6k I think.

FYI, the financing guy will try to sell you an extended warranty and gap insurance. Decide before you go whether you're interested in those, and don't let them change your mind on the spot!

Let us know how it goes, and enjoy your new TDI!

Thank you Davin! Unfortunately, I don't seem to be having the luck you had on the price, but I am still working on it! I am still a few weeks away from getting one, I have to sell my current car, then I can go get one! I am just trying to line-up a deal right now, so I can go pick it up when it comes in! Thanks for the help!
