Need a new CV Axle for my daughter beetle... inner is clicking. I can go the Napa (Cordon) route for $100 or GKN from FCP for $250 or Raxles for $360. Thought the GKN was the happy medium but it appears they are just reground in Spain instead of China?

I bought NEW gkn's from ID parts. Dont think they are reground as they are new.

GKNs are pretty much OEM quality. The chinesium ones vibrate and are garbage.

Apparently ID Parts has a supplier issue so there price just went up on them. Did confirm with them they are reground.

I've read best practice for CV service is to keep your axles and fit new quality joints. Wish I could tell you what brand.

Never tried it, but apparently, inner can often be fixed by swapping left <---> right. At least you have OEM components in there at that point.

There are just too many to list....
If is a manual, just rebuild what you have. If it is an automatic, you can see if Raxles has some on the shelf, otherwise you'll have to send in yours. There should be a lot of good used 01M axles floating around, since so many get swapped to manuals.

Tried a NAPA axle once, it failed in less than 10,000 miles. Some things can’t be taken care of on the cheap. TDI axles are one of those things

I went with the GKN form FCP... I am sure Raxles is the best option but the price is just a little to much for me. I rebuilt one on my 98 Jetta one time & I did eventually get it done but it sure wasn't easy.

I put in a GSP from Rockauto and after 15k shaking came back. I just ordered GKNs from FCP, a lifetime warranty, so swapping them out is not hard if they crap out in 20k.

Don’t think you can go wrong with GKN as they are an OEM supplier. I would first try to rebuild with gkn parts. Raxles are fine although their boots tend to deteriorate sooner than stock boots.
I think you made the right choice with GKN.
