I'm car shopping again, and have subscribed to that CarCostCanada site to check wholesale prices, and it seems to me that markups are generally low. On everything I've looked into (I got price reports for Golf Wagon TDI, Audi A3 TDI, Honda Fit Sport, Honda Insight, Toyota Yaris, and Mazda 3 Hatchback GT) the vehicle markup is around $1300 give or take. The A3 is a little bit more. Then there is a bit of a markup on the options and extras. So are these wholesale price reports BS, or are the markups really that low, so that it's not worth buying new unless there is an additional factory to dealer incentive?

And before anyone asks, yes I plan on keeping my RX-8. This is for a second vehicle to replace the Bento Box.

I think so. I think the money is mostly at maintenance side of it or used cars. Friend's father in-law is trading his 2010 M3 for 2011 535, trade in on the M3 is 50K meanwhile they are selling the new one for 93K, so thats where they make money. M3 only has 4000kms on it, so it will be sold as a used car, but still i'm sure they are going to sell it for something around 70-80 mark!

before anyone asking me about buying it, trust me, i tried and tried. Not gona happen. Drive into dealership, drive out with new car. Doesnt want it any other way!

Cars like that driven into a dealership are called cream puffs....the really good ones are snapped up by dealership employees for their own vehicles. Most dealers will only let employees take one a year, and they frown on reselling quickly....one like the m3 u are talking about, will be resold by the dealer, and employees won't even get a sniff at it...unless they want to pay what the dealer thinks they can get for it....gotta pay for that fancy showroom somehow!!
