2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI (09/09)
Greetings! Been lurking and researching here for a month trying to absorb and digest the huge amount of information and opinion at TDIClub. On November 12th I became the proud owner of a new 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI - bone stock save for the rubber mat and rear tray kit. I became a new member a few days later. This is my sixth VW, my last one 15 years ago, and if feels good to drive one again. They've come a long way in that time :D

The TDIClub forums are a great resource for the recent diesel converts like me. Thanks to everyone here for their contributions. I'm not new to turning wrenches on my cars, although the diesel thing is COMPLETELY new and after driving this car I may never go back to a gasser again - very cool motor. I'm very happy with the car after 850 miles, although driving like a goof on the highway varying the load and rpms is getting old. Can someone break this car in for me?

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you are well on your way. This place is (like you said) full of information. If you haven't already, I would suggest reading all of the "stickies" and learn to master the search function.

I noticed you are in Oregon, that means it will be easy for you to get to TDIFest 2010. Fred just announced that it will be in Portland next Labor Day weekend.

I hope you enjoy your new car as much as I'm enjoying mine. I have a little more than 11,000 trouble-free miles, so far.

Have Fun!

Don

Thanks for the tips Don. Now I will go use the search function to find out what a TDIFest is :)

Cheers!

I think that ought to be just about enough to really let your TDI get warmed up. Do I hear "Italian tun-up"?

I've got a 16-18 hour drive - see ya there...

Have Fun!

So none up here in WA?

=p

TDIFest is the biggest North American gathering of TDIs and is held on an annual basis. Portland is the furthest West it has ever been by a long shot. Plenty of smaller local gatherings in WA, BC, OR and CA. Just keep checking the West Coast forum.
