My mom got this 2006 Jetta with an RCD330 installed by the PO. Unfortunately I did not demo the unit when she did the test drive, so it likely never worked. We are having issues with AA and Carplay. It won't connect to my iPhone 8+ or my mother's 12. We also tried a google pixel and nothing.

Audio from phone does not play through the unit except when calling on bluetooth, phone apps (like waze) are silent.

Bluetooth communications works. I tried re-setting the unit 2x which didn't make a difference.

I've heard these head units are a great value and are popular however we can't get this thing to function.

Is there someone in the SF bay area who can get this thing to work? I'm clueless.

Have you tried the RCD330PLUS forum? There are a number of revisions to the software and if your unit is running an older revision that could be the problem.

im not there to figure it out. I really want to replace it with a Pioneer or Kenwwod GPS unit but unfortunately with the chip shortage their aren’t any available.

if somebody can fix it or make the RCD330 work I’ll pay them for their trouble.

Look under settings/system information. If the firmware is lower than 5518 it needs to be updated. On the RCD330PLUS website you will find a link to firmware updates https://rcd330plus.com/index.php
The latest firmware for the 187b no name is 5614 and costs 15 euros. Geoturks is solid, you are only risking 15 euro LOL.
If your device part number is 6RD035187B with hardware 541 it is a no name. If the hardware is different then you will have to search the different options to see which one fits.
