yes I spoke with Ben earlier and he filled me in. Nice guy thanks for the info Coffee. I am waiting to here if Les updated his kits with a bung already on the midpipe for the injector. Looking at the pipes it is the only place for it to go. I don't see any other bungs or spots for anything else to go too. Coffee do you remember or know if anything else was connected as in a sensor/injector after your DEF injector??

I have emailed Les just waiting on response as I know he has a crazy day today he mentioned.

I am not Coffee, I am Coffeemade and I drink coffee ;-)

The DEF injector was installed and connected at front of the car and I think that the sensor is the rear is the O2 sensor.

Maybe, but you are assuming you will have an issue and so far few have. Maybe you should put a new engine in every 10k miles so there is no issue there either. I keep a $1k car around for those instances. Then I can make decisions at my leisure. Insurance is only $100 a year or so for liability as a third car with 2 drivers (pleasure vehicle). Comes in handy when guests visit as well as I don't have to let them drive mine.
Already had issues including turbo failure and exhaust flap failure. Might be fine if you plan on selling your car after a few years but if you plan on keeping it for good youll be dealing with all the emissions garbage sooner or later

Ok so we got the check engine lights taken care of as they do not reappear. When attempting to start the car it only turns over but doesn't start. While it's turning over I am getting the glow plug indicator in the dash. Any ideas ??

Did you let the countdown reach zero? Are you still getting the AdBlue warning?

Does this look familiar? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhPJaQt9FUs

Yes that is the warning I have and I get the beep as well. I still have about 30-40 miles I think befor the countdown hits 0. It is not down to the red color. It is yellow just like the one in the video. My countdown started at 200 though and not 1500.

When attempting to start the car I do not get the message at the end of the video. It just flashes the glow plug warnings and turns over but won't start.

No codes. Codes were cleared and never came back. We found a coupeof sensors under the hood that weren't reconnected which was source of CEL's. So no CEL's just can't get it to start.

just the adblue light now.

Think it's just going to go back to how it was originally except with regens coded in. THe Bosslady has had enough. still don't think it's going to fix my starting problem. Whichever set up I have I don't see that changing my not starting issue.

Dieseldubs. with egr block off plate and resonator. it is only the downpipe and resonator. Not a full turbo back. I kept my stock catback/muffler on the car. It has less than 200 miles on it that I know becuase of that damn adblue warning which came on day after I did the swap:)

following this thread closely! i called and spoke to one of the reputed Malone dealer, he's answers were following:

1) tuner might not have followed the procedure properly! all steps must be followed precisely for vehicle with DEF before applying Malone tune. Tuner must reset Ad Blue using VCDS prior to applying Malone tune, he might have missed it.

2) or vehicle owner may have emptied out DEF or they might have removed DEF tank entirely. he said:DEF injection is turned off in Malone tune for NMS but he was not sure about level signaling to ECU (going to ask Malone), for that very reason he said, i would not empty out DEF or remove tank.he said DEF does not go anywhere since Def injector is attach to block off plate. i would keep it half full.

he said he's going to send email and ask Malone about it. Malone is still on vacation right now but he's gonna have answer by end of next week.

i told him to follow this thread for details.

Look everyone please understand that I was using a NON MALONE approved shop. It was wrong from the get go. There just aren't many out there set up like this so you need to go to someone who specializes in Tdi's. My mechanic is knowledgeable but these don't have instructions and if you have never done one on a diesel you are up the creek:) I would so it again no doubt I would just go to Les and make it a road trip!!!

MALONE AND DIESELDUBS ARE GREAT !!

Yes number 1 might have been part of the issue here although the car already had a Malone stage 2 on it with regens coded out (which I thought would have rendered the adblue useless) thats what I get for thinking

If he is contact with Les at Dieseldubs or Ben Gilman over at Volks and Rings he will be ok. My MAIN issue was not having sensors/injector plugged in that should have been from the get go. It sounds crazy but if the bosslady gave me permission I'd do it again in a heartbeat!! i have been through the ringer with this one and I know what to look out for now :) Lesson learned. The car was a BLAST to drive though compared to before.. its amazing what less restriction and better flow will do to these.

Just remember along with the DEF injector, there are a couple other sensors that come off the original exhaust that must be plugged back into their counterparts that are still on the car. And make sure that everything is hooked up and in place before turning the key to start

Yup, just West of Atlanta, and I will say that those Passat ECUs are finicky and they are the only ones that ever make me nervous....they are ornery.

I saw someone ask if a Jetta ECU would work in a Passat, definitely no, we can't even convert the ECUs from a CM to a CL model, the only difference in the cars being stick or manual tranny, but we can do immo deletes now on the Golf/Jetta/New Beetle for those engine swap projects.

So I sent the ECU to Les to get restored which I believe means gets wiped clean and back to stock. Then had him put stage 2 with regens codes in. I has the car put back together in stock configuration. I get the ECU back and the car does same thing. Crank, turn over, but won't start. I have seen a couple other threads in the NMS section describing my same issue. Any thiughts out there? I thought having the immobilizer done was causing my issues maybe it's something else?

nevermind i see now that you said there are no codes. You may want to check again though. The drive during my turbo failure didnt turn on any lights but they came on the next day.
