I've tried two different VW dealerships and a couple websites and have come up with nothing. I have a 2000 VW Golf TDI 1.9 and I am missing the back part of the battery housing. I have the top cover and the cover that surrounds the front and sides of the battery. The bottom battery tray has three bolt holes in the back that this missing piece is bolted to. I really appreciate any help with this

The part numbers of the pieces I have are:
1JO 937 589 Side (3 sided), with insulation around it
1JO 972 545 Top Cover

There's a three-sided housing that covers the back of the battery and part of the left and right sides: PN 1J0 915 335. There's a cover that fits down the back side of the previously listed part that's 1J0 915 337. There's also a retainer for the fuse box that goes on top of the battery, 1J0 937 555C. The part number I have for the top cover (front and sides of the battery) is 1J0 915 435.

I would happily past in the ETKA diagram if I wasn't such a klutz and could figure out how. Maybe someone else will: It's diagram 915-10 in MG 9, SG 15.

Hope this helps.

If you can't read the pictures the relevant part numbers for MY 2000 are:
1J0 937 559 B battery cover with relay plate bracket
1J0 937 589 H battery cover for vehicles with AC
1J0 972 545 D shield for wiring conduit
1J0 971 824 C wiring conduit

The part number posted by IBW are for the newer box introduced during MY 2001, not the crappy old design.

MoGolf,
If I wanted to change out the old design battery housing to the newer one, what parts would I need to make this change? Thanks again for the assistance.

1J0 915 333 battery tray
N 101 894 03 bolts (4)
1J0 915 435 battery cover
1J0 915 337 cover
1J0 915 335 trim for battery
1J0 915 345 retainer for fuse box

I'm not sure if you need to replace the fuse holder and cover. They are:

1J0 937 617 D fuse holder w/ cable
1J0 937 555 C cover for fuse holder

Does the newer box hold a larger battery, or is it the exact same size? My box is in pretty crummy shape because I have a larger than original battery shoved in it.

Battery cover and lid for BIGGER batteries?

Do larger covers and lids exist for BIGGER batteries? I like having more CCAs in Canada. But the cover lid and box are a tad bit small for this battery size.
