Been working on a friends '87 190D the engine is a 2.5 non-turbo. I replaced the headgasket which requires splitting the timing chain. I marked everything very carefully so that it would go back exactly as it came apart.
It is now all back together and it runs but the injection timing sounds a bit retarded and I am not sure which way to adjust the pump to advance it slightly. It runs fine at high rpm it's just a little sluggish off idle and down on power.
I'm not at all a newb to diesel engines, I've been building large diesel engines for years, just never messed with a mercedes.
Thanks for any help
