Need a good diesel mechanic - Altanta, GA

Hey, I just purchased a 2002 Jetta TDI and was hoping to get a reference for a good mechanic in the Atlanta area. Someone in Cobb County is preferred. The VW dealership here hasn't been getting the highest praise from other VW owners I've talked with...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I buy biodiesel 100 at S.A. White on Atlanta Rd. and thier is a VW mechanic next door. I have not use him,but he talk the talk and he have a few TDI in side his shop. Good luck

I've used them twice, good guys. They are always busy with usually 2 or 3 TDI's out front too. Its right next door to SA White which is the biodiesel distributor in Marietta.

For "serious" work (timing belt!!!), please consider having TDI-Club Timing Belt Guru David Brubaker (UserID davidbru on this site) do the work!!

That's not to say that a commercial garage can't do a good job, but... the odds are he'll do a better (and cheaper) one !!!

Dave did my last timing belt and i'll recommend him again but McDonough is 50 miles further than VW City.

Only 50 miles? Heck, some folks in the NorthEast drive 4 hours to get to Herm in Maine...

Getting a proper timing belt job is worth a 500-mile round trip, compared to letting an inexperienced person screw it up and cost you a new engine.

[When I say "inexperienced" I mean someone who maybe has changed the TB in a TDI before, but perhaps only a few times, or maybe only a couple times a year. There are a select number of TB pros or gurus here at tdiclub who routinely do a few every week, or maybe several dozen every year. Or even have the technique down so they can do several in one day. All of them as good or better than when the engine came new from the factory.]
