Am I the only new Jetta owner that is freaking out about all these posts about HPFP failures costing owners $7K in repairs that AREN'T covered by the warranty? I love my new Jetta, but that kind of repair bill would break me. I would have to just turn the car over to the bank and default on the loan.

could be covered if under the 3yr, 36K mile warranty. You'll still have to fight tooth and nails for it if you even get it. Otherwise you'll have to pitch in the extra $1,500-$2,000 for the platnium warranty.

looks like it was mostly in 2009 tho, and some in 2010. then again maybe it's just that we haven't been driving the 2011's far enough yet.

Whatever you do don't put a drop of RUG in there. Also, a good mantra to go by is drive more, worry less. If it helps ease your mind, try to use B5 or an additive or both.

With that being said, yes it would suck if my HPFP grenaded - but I always remind myself that it is a small percent of cars that have had this issue.

Anyways, back on topic - to the OP - congrats!! Great choice!! Good luck keeping it that shiny - it is a task buy looks so good in the end!

Got 37 mpg's the last few fill ups.
congrats! it gets better as you go. I just had my best tank yet, and it was 39.5 which I am thrilled (others will not be) but I live just north of the Pocono's in PA so anywhere I am traveling is always mountain driving.

I have also noticed better mpg's with different diesel stations. I have eliminated the "cheaper diesel stations" from my list due to low mpg

you know, it kinda bugs me when you guys post up mpg but don't state the percentage that's highway. i'm blaming anyone, i think fuelly should post that on your sigs too. say a person getting 37mpg and they're thrilled about it, but it's 90% city. There's another person getting 39mpg, and they think they're doing ok, but they're 50/50, they need to understand they're doing something wrong instead of thinking "i'm doing ok if others are doing 37mpg". I do noticed some folks getting 47-49mpg, but they're 90% highway.

just a personal rant...

It happened to me - twice! But I was lucky because my dealership took care of me. No hassles - no warfare - they just did their best to fix the car and when that failed, we were in lemon law territory and they just swapped me into a brand new car without me having to drag in a lawyer. So HPFP failures are scary - no one wants one - but the real issue is how your dealership chooses to handle it. They may be jerks about it or they may treat you right. No point in worrying about it. Cross your bridges when you get to them and enjoy your car. The deck is stacked in your favor (unless of course you put gas in your tank).

not a problem man...thanks for the info. i think we all on here need to state our % city driving percentage. it's just an extra 7 letters but makes a big difference to the reader. good specs on that mpg.

Been running led drls for 3 months with no issues...only bulbs that cause problems are rear turn, front signals and highbeams and rear running and tail combo light

In my past experiences with LEDs from china / HK one of them is usually always bad or has issues. This way I have a duplicate seat on hand if anything goes wrong etc

We are talking a couple $$ to have an extra set in case.
