Here are a couple pics of my o4 tdi. It's unique because it has on-star! Never seen another one with on-star. I live an a gravel road so I line'x'ed the bottom 1/3 and front and rear bumpers. It has a vnt-17 turbo, stainless downpipe, hi-flow cat, upgraded smic, q-loader w/custom tune. 18" vsr's with 225-40-18 x-ice's for winter, 18" enkei's with 215-35-18's in the summer.

Wait... You go WIDER in the winter? Isn't that the exact OPPOSITE of what you should do? Think I'd be finding some 15" steeliers or 16" stock alloys for the winter, buy 18" winter tires must hurt!

I like the two tone though :) I might've cut it off at the body line, but that wouldn't work on the bumpers, so I dunno.

I'm a craigslist junkie, the vsr's came w/ the car and had some worn out linglongs on them, got the x-ice's almost new for around $200, mainly for ice not deep snow. We have a Tacoma 4x4, and a 2500 ram diesel 4x4 for when it gets nasty. The 215's (70-80%) came on the enkei's for $225. when those wear out I might invest in some new tires from discount tire, but can't usually stomach the price on new tires. Looking at Kuhmo extca lx platinums, 50K warranty! anybody run them?

I was torn on where to run the line-x, I wanted it to flow with the bumpers, but was looking at the body line as well. Almost went over the wheel line also, but to get it with a smooth radius it would have been tough. I took the bumpers off and did the inside as well, should be like rubbermaid now...

I've seen a pickup with line-x 100% coverage (except the windows!). It sure solves that pesky rock chip problem, doesn't it?

A while back, the day after doing the line-x, I hit a pheasant at 75mph and it destroyed my grill. I remember seeing the vw emblem go fluttering over my head.

I was working on a popped off intercooler hose, and had the bumper and light off when I found a set of driving lights in my random parts stash. just for fun I stuck one in the place where the emblem was, and it fit nicely! I wired it up to a switch, and bolted it in, and now I have a 3rd eye! I know it's a little odd, but so is the whole line-x deal. What do you think?

I think I'm going to look for a thinner light, or possibly a "halo" light. If I can find one thin enough I might put the vw emblem in front of it when I'm done making my new grill

I see you live in Ritzville. I live in Spokane during the week and Wilbur on the weekends. As soon as I am done with college my wife and I are planning to put up a house on her parents farm. You aren't the guy from Ritzville who had the 35 gallons of waste oil last week giving away for free were you?

Anyway, nice car. Looks like the rhino lining stuff is working for you.

yes I am the guy that was giving away the waste oil, gave it to a guy in St. John for his waste oil furnace in his shop.

Yeah I love the Line-x, living on gravel roads it was almost a necessity. thinking of doing the front lip of the hood and angling it into a big wide racing stripe up the rest of the hood to cover/protect against rock chips.

Reminds me of the Tucker:

Now if you can get the light to turn with the steering wheel like it did in the Tucker!!!

I have always been a fan of rinolined/line-xed cars. It is more durable for sure and unique.

You had me until the hood scoops. The center light is freaking me out a little bit too.

this reminds me a lot about my "ghetto mod" thread, i like it. rhino would be great on the bumpers but i would get the same body color.
the light......... is great! you just gave me an idea, well, i'm stealing yours.
i have some BRIGHT aircraft lights and i might use one.......

I actually really like the idea of line-x. Definitely going to consider this, since my hood already looks like it had a bad case of chicken pox.

I've thought many times about putting bedliner on my front and rear bumpers but I like how yours is continuous around the car...may have to give that a try.
