I finally broke down and bought a new car. I'm such a tightwad I never thought I would buy a new car.
After searching for months for a good deal on a bigger car, I came to the conclusion that the used car market right now is extremely hot and there were no good buys. I couldn't see spending 14k for a car that was 6 years old with 75k miles, when I could buy a brand new Passat TDI 6mt for less then 25k.
I used the 1.9% financing along with the $500 credit towards the first car payment.
Thanks everyone for answering my odd questions. I have been looking at buying this car for over 6 months. My wife can't believe it, she keeps looking outside to verify it's real. The carseat fits with no problem behind either seat, and all of the strollers and bags upon bags upon bags, will fit with no problem.
I will have a very nice 2003 Jetta TDI 5 speed for sale shortly. I will miss it, but the passat is soooooo nice.
It is gray with black interior.
The reason used car prices are so high: There were 30% fewer cars produced between 2008-2011 then normal.
