Congrats to you too. What kind of wheels are you shopping for? Which color did you go with? Can't wait for that Pano Sunroof and those MPGs!
I want the fog lights too, but I guess that will have to wait. I ended up with the White Gold/Cornsilk combo. I preferred the Blue Graphite looks-wise it wasn't the most practical choice. I hope I'm not disappointed...
No pano roof on mine...talk about a difficult combo to find! Keeping the interior cool for my dogs and saving the $1300 was more important to me.

Since I've found no takers on trading my 16" Biolines for 17" Portos, I'm going to look at some 18x8.5" VMR v708 wheels this afternoon. I found the distributor (based in Santa Ana) on VWVortex and they offered me a great deal if I pick them up. Tires will be 235/40-18 from Tire Rack, not decided on brand yet. Well, there goes the money I saved on the pano roof!

I'm mildly concerned about heat inside, especially with the black interior, but I'd much rather have all that sun. And my daughter, who is 19 months will LOVE being able to see out everywhere.

I love the grey rims. Goal isn't my favorite design, but I think it still looks fabulous on the blue graphite.

As much as I LOVE the cornsilk interior, it just isn't practical with a two year old and a family that does a lot of hiking/camping stuff.

I want the Fogs also that is why I have been doing all this research......
OEM Plus has a Kit that is 425 and includes the Fogs a wiring harness and the grills it doesn't include a Headlight switch which they sell for 95........and what is not known is if the sportwagen has a a Lowline CECM
if it does then to make OEM Plus kit work you will have to buy a Highline CECM which is about 325.00 so you are looking at 845 not including install for foglights..........I know of a company that makes a wiring harness for 85 that doesn't use the CCM...........

Damn! When I was shopping the 09 back in June, I was told it would be about $450 installed. How could it be that much more for the 2010?

Love the Goal Anthracites on your Blue Graphite, Grubendol.

With the limited color selections, there's really not a bad choice among 'em. I would have chosen the White Gold if it were available. My '05 JW was silver, which I enjoyed but didn't want to repeat. The choice came down to red at one dealer and white at another. The white arrived first, and I liked the dealer better anyway....

The Goal wheels are growing on me. Really didn't want the $1100 upcharge, but VW seems to be pushing these. Could have traded straight across for the 17" Portos from a Wolfsburg, but it was too much hassle.

We got the Pano roof and love that the kiddo can look out from the back seat. (I call it the "rain roof.") Hoping the Cornsilk V-Tex is stain and UV resistant.

Congrats on all the new cars, folks! Did I mention I *love* mine?:)

I just found out Fog Lights are standard on the 2010 MK6 Golf TDI
So all we need to add them to our new Jetta Sportwagens is to obtain the correct part#s and we should be able to order

Please, call me Grubie, or Ric ;)

I actually love the portos, if I can get a trade on that I might consider it. It's not that the goals are bad by any means, just like the portos better.

We actually don't care for leather or leatherette...kinda bummed there is no cloth option on the TDI's, but I'll deal. Considering a seat cover situation to keep the seats from being too hot or stained.

Hey Tomo, have you confirmed whether or not the '10 JSW has a highline CECM yet? I'm wagering that it doesn't since it's kind of a Mk5.5 and not a full on Mk6 like the '10 Golf. It would be just like VW to still have the midline CECM in the JSW like the '10 sedan does.

My First TDI

Hello all, I have been lurking here since I placed my order in July. Picked mine up last Thursday, and already put some Blizzak on yesterday. This car is everything I hoped for and more. Only two gripes would be no power/memory seats, and would like more phone bluetooth functionality. On the short list: pinnacle f1 35%, panzer plate, aspherical mirrors, and autodimming homelink rearview.
TDI, DSG, Big Glass, MDI Console, Monster Mats, Clear Bra

Congrats to another new JSW owner! You've been very patient, waiting since July, although not the longest wait I've heard of.

Questions: About your Clear Bra. Did you get the full coverage kit and how much did it cost you for install?

What color combo did you order? We'd like to see some pics with the tint. I'm still deciding on what % to get. Mine's still sitting at the port.

I think I was pretty lucky as far as the wait. My order was picked up almost immediately, so didn't have the IS Order Bank hell. It still tested my patience, but could have been a lot worse.
My bra doesn't cover the bumper or headlights (kinda wish the headlights were done). It only covers the hood (around 12") and front quarter panels (basically any metal on the front of the car). Price was $110 installed through my broker.
I went with black interior (one reason I want the ceramic tint).
The tint is probably going to wait a couple months, since the Blizzaks ate those funds. I will post as soon as it happens though. Oh well, I would rather not put my new car in a ditch this winter :)

I have a dumb question about snow tires. Do people ever put tire chains over their snow tires? Or do snow tires negate the need for chains?

Also, do you prefer studded or studless snow tires and why?

Sorry, I can't be a ton of help with these questions. This is my first set of snows, because I moved here from Florida about 1 1/2 yrs ago.
I went with Blizzak WS60's. Everyone I talked to out here raves about Blizzak, so it was an easy decision. Studded was overkill for me, although some trips to Laramie, WY I'll take everything I can get.

Sweet ride. Love those rims. Found out today mine is stuck at port too. Will have it Monday or Tuesday. Debating on whether to have dealer tint and add it to my financing or to wait. I also have the blue graphite with black so the tinting will be a must.

Clear bra is fairly reasonable.

Also, I'm dying to get those wing mirror inserts too. A friend has them on his EOS and I love'em

You and me both it seems. I just found out mine is in port limbo until early next week. Rats! I had a weekend train ride and brew pub tour of San Diego planned for this Saturday. I don't know if I can wait until next weekend, so I may take a solo train ride mid-week if the my JSW is prepped and back from the window tinter Monday or Tuesday.

I'm still weeks ahead of my original order so I can't complain.

This is My 8th VW, My 3rd waterpumper and first Diesel. I waited for some time to find the right one. But I got it off the lot just the way I wanted.

So it is a 010 blk. on blk. TDI 6spd. sportwagen with Navi and 17's.

Mine looks like Glenn A's Except I got that DSG thingie. Picked it up 9/28. I only got 500 miles on the 3rd tank of fuel. Take that Prius People!!! Runs pissah! (As the locals say up here.)

Anybody know how to hack the ()*&)*(&ing HDD load? I got a boat lod of tunes and it insists on making a new folder for every disc (CD or DVD) that I load.

And the HD radio doesn't do the HD-2 / HD-3 stations. (Or I just haven't figured it out)

Who makes the NAV / HD radio? I con't get it to tune in the HD-2 stations. I could be missing something. It also keeps making new folders when I load a new DVD/CD with more tunes. Sure would be nice if I could put an AUTORUN.INF file on the root folder of the CD/DVD and copy files where I want them.

I'm not impressed with the Sirius. Keeps fading out under mere trees. Hearing Nina Blackwood on Channel sure brings back memories...

Sweet ride again, Glenn A.

So, I'm getting all torn up inside trying to decide on the rims here. I told the dealer to give me tint 25% rear windows only (got a fix it ticket for the front once...not doing that again).

I love the Portos, but the Grey Goals are pretty great too. Maybe I should wait and see the car with the Goals before deciding on a switch. Want the splash guards but the dealer quoted me $250 install them (!?!?!?!)

On an aside, as much as I love your car there Glenn, I have to say I'm glad I'm in a state that doesn't allow dealer stickers on the car. :)

I can't find the portos listed at the vw.com site, so I have no idea what they cost...

Anyone got the price difference between the grey goals and the portos?

McKenna VW in Huntington Beach has some TDIs including so called sportswagen that takes about 8.5 seconds to reach 60mph. They have $1,000 mark-up. Would I buy it? No for sure. The sticker price is already high compared with the gassers Jettas. Moreover, the mileage is not that great. With hybrids going much cheaper and giving higher mileage, the appeal for these TDI is not there unless you want to taste diesel car made in Mexico. Also, when there are many gas cars with comparable features going for 12k to 18k range and with high performance, there is not much saving from buying the TDIs. The future is in plug-in hybrids whether they are diesel or gas. For the last few months, the diesel fuel price was $0.20-0.35 cheaper than regular gas. But now it is pretty close to the price of regular gas. Soon we may see it becoming expensive than regular gas and that will cut another diesel buying advantage other than the federal tax credit of $1,300 (that usually ends up paying the dealer for additional mark up). So do not immediately jump to buy the TDI. See other cars before considering the TDI. The issue here is being prudent and practical, not ego centric.

Umm, with all due respect, you're talking to people who have already bought them. What was the point of that?

As of tomorrow I'll be two weeks in with my 2010 JSW TDI and just loving it. I've been an VW enthusiast since the 80's having my share of MKIs and IIs then in 2004 picked up a Audi Allroad which was the greatest. In 07 the lease was up and since I was planning a move out of Cali in the near future I didn't bother looking for a new car. So I drove my work truck, a 06 F250 Diesel with a whopping 13mpg for 2 1/2 years at an average fuel cost of 350 a month. Well now that I'm finally in a position to pick up a new car I jumped at the chance to get back in the drivers seat of my all time favorite.

wheels/tires, tint and blacked out window trim. my 85 MKII can be seen in the background

now just waiting for sport springs and a lug bolt set & all is good.

ps. anyone interested in a 2006 F250 Diesel...? lol

Those prices are on the window sticker.........
If you go to a Dealer you will most likely pay 1000-1200 for 4 of those wheels......

I got those from the 2010 order guide. I managed to snag the PDF from vortex before the link was removed. ;)
