18" black Karthoums

Would like to know everyone's opinion on the 18" Black Karthoum wheels. I'm taking delivery on my 2010 JSW in January. Dealer just notified me that my initial wheel selection was not available on the wagons. So instead of the dealership having me select another wheel, they notified me that the Black Karthoums will be on my vehicle, which are also the most expensive ones, go figure.
Never really been a fan of the blacked out wheel look. Wondering how they look in person. Also wondering the success rate of people swapping wheels out at the dealership lot. Thoughts on the matter?
I had the same thing happen to me - was originally going to get the cheap set then upgrade to aftermarket Hartmans or ? But the Karthoums were installed either at the factory or at port and couldn't be changed. In fact the Saleperson got a bit cocky and said - "well if you don't like them - I've got 3 others already lusting after the car - so we can just order you what you want". Wasn't sure I was going to like them - but in person on the car (Black/Black) the look great and will look even better when I get the coilovers (hurry Bilstein, hurry). I've posted a few pictures on one of the earlier pages.

Just ordered my 2010 JSW TDI

Hey everyone.

Ordered yesterday (joined forum today) 2010 JSW TDI Black/Black, 6 spd manual, pano roof, mat kit. Paid Invoice + $200. Went in with the zag.com pricing (which was about $100 less) but they didn't have any JSW TDIs on the lot so they don't have to honor that price but they came pretty close. They estimate orders will take 11-13 weeks (maybe longer with holiday coming up) so it will come just around the time I turn in my leased 2007 Platinum grey Jetta Wolfsburg. Dealer agreed i would not have to take delivery before lease expired so i don't have to pay for 2 cars at the same time. Nice. At dealer that day, we saw delivery of our same car package in reflex silver/black and a JSW SE in black/black, auto - no roof. Cars looked amazing. That pano roof on the silver was to die for. Both new owners were psyched.

Our dealer was great - we originally got the 2007 lease through them. No hassles, no pressure and a great price. They normally sell the JSW TDI at invoice + 500, which also is a great deal given how many dealers won't even budge from MSRP or even go over MSRP.

Also recommend any prospective buyers check out zag.com. You can go through capital one or amex (don't actually have to pay with either card) and you get a great negotiated price on the car. The one caveat is that it has to be a car they have on the lot. So check out the dealer inventory on their dealer website or cars.com and then price that exact model through zag.com.

Very excited :D and will post mileage stories and pics once we take delivery.

Hey,

I just purchased a set of Diamond Black Karthoums which are actually the smoked colour and are not black. They were being offered by Jeff from Douglas VW in NJ for $1050 including shipping. Here is the URL:

I take delivery of my TDI JSW in 2 1/2 weeks. I got the 16" wheels so I can put snows on those and then I was planning on getting a nice set of 18" wheels for the other three seasons. When I saw the price on these it was a no brainer. Jeff still has two sets left if you're interested.

Just got my JSW TDI last night. IM IN LOVE. I upgraded from a 2003 Chevy truck. My commute is 186mi round trip (Iprefer to live in the country and work in the city).

I swear I got the best deal on a 2010 JSW in the country.

Im not going to list MSRP and My Drive out cause I think it would start a war in disbelief. I got the papers to prove it and if I can keep from showing to much confidential info I will just scan the loan paper section with numbers and post for your enjoyment.

Well, my new baby is finally here...and I have to show it off. I know others have ones that look just like it...but this one is mine! Glad to now be officially in the Club.

Nice!!! Its the total package. Hand calculated my mpg this morning (third fill-up) 40.9 mpg for mixed hwy and country road driving. I couldn't be more pleased. These TDIs rock!!

Congrats! The car looks great. That was one of the things I loved about the Graphite Blue, the colour looks different in different light.

OilBurner, Congrats on having my car man!

It's my exact setup (except that I got my windows tinted). Love my baby more than anything I've ever driven (including my uncle's Porsche).

Grubendol,

The window tinting is coming...15% all around with a lighter shade of dark on the windshield, at the same I will add some SS exhaust tips, rear bumper protector, Escort remote radar detector and laser jammers and I will be ready to rock. The posted photo doesn't show the rear spoiler (slightly longer that the regular one...perhaps a waste of time/money in retrospect) or the body side moldings...both which are painted to factory color...oh, and I don't have the sunroof like yours (too hot in Florida for that every day during the summer.) Other than that...nice to meet you "West Coast Twin".

Window tinting forward of rear doors is illegal in Cali. I didn't do a dark tint...

We may not have your humidity, but it gets pretty warm down in these parts too ;)

Probably will do exhaust tips soon...and I want splash guards before too long too.

Many thanks. I could not figure out how to make the pictures appear as part of the message instead of links. I did click on the image icon which asked for the URLs in the pop-up.

Went for a short test-drive. Got about 45 mpg, not following break-in procedure on the way back. Otherwise, I am mostly city-driving with about 30 mpg (break-in RPMs, mostly gears 2-3).
