I just purchased it today! I went in to put a deposit down on an order and they had one at port that will be here, Richardson, TX in a week. Everything just like I wanted. I paid msrp. Ok, a guesstimated msrp, but it's in line with 2009. Trade, financed, everything, done. I OWN IT!!! Complete with my name on the sticker:cool:

I hate paying msrp, but everyone else is charging 1k to 2.5k market adjustment. Finance guy said they've sold 5 today like that.

I'm happy!

Welcome aboard. Post some pics when you get it. So far no one has posted pics of a delivered 2010 Sportwagen. You might be the first. There is LOTS of information here you will want to absorb. I would start with the 2009 specific FAQ list (click link below). Almost everything about the 2009 will also apply to your 2010. The biggest changes are the steering wheel and radio (IIRC).

Good Luck!

Yes, I would like to see pics too as all the previous photos of the '10 JSW are press photos and I'm curious to see more "real life" pics of how the new front end looks as well as the interior.

Dang, I saw one today & chatted with the guy who got it 3 days ago. It is a white gasser, but the body diff's were obvious right away. The tails lights made the biggest difference. If I see him again, I'll dig out the camera.

I've never purchased a vehicle this way before. Thanks to this forum for letting me lurk and learn. Lots of great info. Pics coming as soon as it gets here. I can't wait! I wanted the titan black interior, but that wasn't at port with the rest of my options. I looked at the cornsilk in a 2010 Jetta sedan and decided I could live with it. Very creamy. Not as yellow as 2009 which wasn't that bad, but wasn't for me. The 2010 cornsilk looks very upscale. I just wish the wife could drive a stick.

I didn't think the tail lights were changed at all on the new 2010 JSW. I thought it was just the front fascia that was different. Everything else ceteris peribus.

So 2010 pricing is the same as 2009?
Just curious I ordered one too.

I've heard pricing was released around the time i purchased mine. I never saw an option list, but was assured it would be invoice. It was inline with 2009 pricing + a couple $100. I've used this dealer before and feel good about the deal. Man, this week is going slow...I want my JSW now!

This came up at the Vortex. Apparently the rear lights on the 2010 wagens are smoked. Looks pretty good in the brochure.

But no TDI wagens have actually arrived yet to confirm.

I followed the link, saw the pictures - and I don't see anything different than last year's tail lights. What am I missing (go easy on my noob arse)?

dealer called and mine is coming in the thursday of this week, so maybe around 9/25...according to 3193 on this site (Chris Farnham), dealer invoice is $412 above last year's prices (or $440 above MSRP)

do they have fogs as standard equipment? Chris was told yes, but brochures didn't show them, so i'm really curious...want to know if i have to shell out some money on some hella fogs

The plastic is apparently tinted darker this year. Also ambiguous, but the turn signals might be amber instead of red. Not having seen an 09 up close, I'm not sure how obvious the difference is. You can try to compare the photo gallery of the 09 with the 10 on the German site (the photos from the Vtex link are actually the gallery shots from the German site of the Golf variant).

A dealer in FL (Gunther) got their first TDI wagens and have posted some pics in the Vortex forum of a wagen with cornsilk beige interior. Sharp! The new models no longer have the grab handle surrounding the gear shift. Mine doesn't bother me, but folks with longer legs have complained about the handles. And no foglights on the stock TDI wagen.

We ordered one on September 12th (the dealer had one coming in w/ what we wanted), and it's supposed to be in by the end of the month. The dealer told me it's at the port in Rhode Island. We're in CT. Paying MSRP - whatever that is!

I'm still very confused why the sedans don't get the updated interior. I can only guess that it's because the sedan will move the MkVI platform for the '11 model year as speculated and the JSW will remain on the MkV platform.

i've never sat in an 09 before, but i do notice some minor changes from the limited 09 pics on VW. the 2010 sedan does get the fancy radio, new gagues, (which i prefer) and new HV/AC controls. Other than that is the 10 JSW interior supposed to me miles above the Sedans?

i'd be much more interested in the benifits of the MkVI platform vs some fancy new pieces of platic, but alas my hands were tied into getting a 2010, oh hum (just kidding, i love my TDI).

Well the MkVI platform is largely the same as the MkV. The main differences are "behind the scenes" so-to-speak because it was designed to save VW money as the MkV is very expensive to produce. The MkV has been around going on five model years so it's a little long in the tooth at this point. Since the JSW got the new interior treatments, why not the sedan too? That's all I'm saying :)

Just got back from the dealer ('free' OC), they have a couple 2010 JSW TDi's just off the truck. Both DSG, pano, 16's, one with SatNav. I decided that I do like the front end treatment in the flesh, a lot. The instrumentation looks far better to me, and of course the MFSW that we didn't get with '09... Got pictures if anyone is interested, but I guess the 2010 is passe by now...

Findlay VW, Henderson NV. +2k showroom, MSRP internet. I'd have to assume these are spoken for, but maybe not!

This is for the eggshell or whatever they call the color, the graphite blue with NAV is $1750 more

The dealer called today, he got the invoice and says the car should be at the dealership in a couple of days.

After a 4 year drought (due to a MkV GTI) I was able to get back into the TDI crowd last night. The salesperson at Keffer Volkswagen in Charlotte called yesterday with two available SportWagens. I picked the graphite blue TDI wagen with DSG and the sunroof. Paid the sticker price since there was a wait list.

Feels good to be back!

I didn't realize the 2010 JSW is considered a Mk6?
The 2010 JSW of course has some new sheet metal and interior changes, but the frame is still a Mk5 correct? Anyone know if there were any changes under the car?

Okay, thats what I thought I read a couple weeks ago...

I found this information on www.myturbodiesel.com:

Summary of differences:
  • All 2009 Jetta uses a 5th generation (mk5/mkv/A5/PQ35) body and interior.
  • The 2010 Jetta sedan will continue to use a 5th generation body with some minor cosmetic 6th gen updates.
  • The 2010 Jetta/Golf station wagon gets cosmetic updates but it does NOT use a full 6th gen body.
  • The 2010 Golf uses the full 6th gen body, exterior, and interior.
These differences are because of the rolling transition from 5th to 6th generation and because the Jetta station wagon is very popular in Europe but is called the Golf variant there. VW is updating only the look of the wagon (without updating the underlying body) to keep all models called Golf looking the same. The model name "Jetta sportwagen" will be also replaced with "Golf Wagon" in Canada. Therefore, the station wagon will be called Golf wagon/variant everywhere except the US, where it will be called the Jetta sportwagen.
The 6th generation PQ35 platform is a refinement of the 5th generation platform. Manufacturing efficiency through economies of scale is why the Jetta sedan also gets some minor interior updates. The Jetta will transition to an all new 6th gen body and a new platform most likely for the 2011 model year. Since the 6th gen Golf will continue to use an updated 5th gen PQ35 platform, this is a major split between the Jetta and Golf because they shared bodies/platforms in the past. Since the Jetta wagon is known in Europe/Canada as the Golf wagon/variant, it's not known if future wagons will be built on the Golf or Jetta platform.

Wonder why VW would decide to use two different generations of platforms for the 2010+ Golf (updated 5th gen) vs 2011 Jetta 6th gen.
Doesn't seem to fit the whole economies of scale theory...
