Can anyone who got their dealer to do this for them scan a copy of the work order so I can use it to convince my dealer that this is ok to do.
Thanks,
Drew
Hi Drew,

Where do you live? There is probably someone with the VAG-Com software nearby that would be glad to help you out. If you're anywhere near Chicago I'd fix that for you & set the rest of the goodies.

RAST,

In which burb are you located? I have a 2006 Jetta TDI and I would really love to get everything set up correctly on the Jetta.

Especially the steering codes and the door chime seatbelt reminder. Unfortunately, the Jetta permanently resides in Moline, IL and not in Evanston / Wilmette where the Passats TDI's live.
I am back in Moline now and I will be here for several days getting things done and ready to go to the field.

HMMMM--You do not want to road trip out here do you? I have 600 gallons of BP Premier / B15 blended biodiesel "On Road" at the farm.
Pretty easy to fill you back up on fuel.

Not too many TDI's here in the Quad Cities; at least I have not seen too many since moving back here. I am about 95% sur that nobody in the QCA has a Hex Can style Vag Com.

Thanks

Will work for Bio :)

I'm going out of town this weekend, but next weekend I'm free. PM me and we can work something out.

Rast, Sounds like a plan on the re-coding and Vag'in. It is really a pretty easy drive to the QC area.

DrewD--How long did you live in the QCA and where? What took you to the West? I am originally from Taylor Ridge and I have recently moved back into the area. It is a great area to live as long as you have a decent job. I am still looking for one here!
Wow, the world can get awfully small really fast!!!:D

Whiteys? Yep, I had the large chocolate malt with Resses peanut butter cup last night as I surfed around on the TDI Club. The 41st Street Whiteys in about 2 minutes from me by car. Six minutes if I walk.
Harris or Franks Pizza tonight is the big question.
BTW--I can dry ice a few malts and send them if you want me too.

Sorry to get way off of the topic here.

Deming,

I used to be stationed at Rock Island Arsenal when I was in the Army. If you are looking for a job, that might be something you should consider. Be warned though, there is a lot of nepotism there and my wife with a Master's Degree couldn't even qualify for a starting position as a secretary and gave up after 2 years of trying. However, my bosses two kids who graduated with degrees in education degrees both got great civil servant jobs as technical writers with a salary in the low $50k range several months after graduating. You can look for Rock Island Arsenal Jobs at the following websites http://www.cpol.army.mil/ is for army civil servant jobs and http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/ for all civil servant jobs.

John Deere is always an option but not sure if they've shifted production overseas yet most manufacturuers in this country.

After I left the Army I moved to Eldrige, Iowa which is several miles north of Davenport. We planned on staying there but my wife lost her job and couldn't find work after 6 months. I got out of the Army to return to school and get a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. I was planning on commuting to University of Iowa but the job situation with my wife forced us to move to Colorado where she found a job the first week after we moved here.

Thanks for the Whitey's offer but I prefer to have an excuse to return one day to visit friends that still live there. I do miss Harris pizza, it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I also miss the buffet at one of the casino boats...they had incredible all you can eat crab claws (two different types) on Friday nights. We never gambled but just went there for the food.

As a race car driver and overall driving enthusiast, I do know the ropes with regard to road crown and wind. I did try to let go of the wheel and the car will veer off the road in short order. However it must be said that the road crown is probably at fault.

Driving with fingertips only does help, but it is a struggle. My wife cannot do it at all.

It seems to me that some form of yaw control is at fault. I remember reading somewhere that this car has a system to counteract wind or road crown.

Driving me nuts!

BTW, the car has 400 miles on it. So far, we have hit nothing with it.

2006 Jetta set to Normal 5 mode via Vag-com. Steers dead straight,
I'd take a long look at the tires; 1 broken cord will cause all kinds wander, pull, nosediving, etc.

My dealer says there is a law passed that prevents him from modifying the OEM settings. That is the kind of service I REALLY like:)

He claimed that only the steering effort is adjustable. Is this the case? Or is the sensitivity adjustable.

Thanks!

Chris
What kind of OEM settings is he talking about??? What ever he's taking, send me some!!!!:p

There seems to be some confusion over whether 5 is less or more assist. i had mine at a lower number and was having some wandering problems, changed over to five and to me it felt like i got a high speed decrease in assist and less wander. There is the possibility it was just my imagination. Not sure.
