Has anyone done the mufflerectomy just using resonator tips, instead of a full length resonator? Any drone at speed?

I was thinking about doing to the same, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Instead, I found these tips on eBay (just got them today) and will have the muffler removed an these installed after I get the body kit painted and installed...after I finish all the other things I'd like to do.

These are the nicest tips I've ever seen. I lost the previous auction, but the seller offered them to me for the price I bid ~$80.

Here's the tips I'm running : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MagnaFlow-Stainless-Steel-Tip-Dual-Rnd-35168_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33633QQitemZ8031614538QQtcZphoto#ebayphotohosting
Got for $41 Best offer

No real drone upto about 80mph. It's still not as bad as my daughters 2.0L Jetta with Magnaflow 2 1/2" catback, cored cat, and header.

Pitboy,

Awesome setup. I was curious because if I could get away with just the resonator tips and straightpipe to avoid the drone and any excessive noise- and still get the cool turbo spinning sound. I would go that route.

This way I have fewer welds and cutting to do vs putting a traditional bullet resonator. (Save some $$).

Also I was told by the muffler shop that you should use a baffled resonator instead of the spiral core kind, because the diesel exhaust would gunk it up pretty quickly.

Todd, Nice lift..lol.

Me and todd (pitboy) took forever to do his setup..lol. Beware of the connection between the pipes.. get a pipe expander and expand the pipe on the car a bit to fit the straight pipe.. As for my car, it slid on like butter.

As for the cat...
I took jeffs advice and cut a hatch into my cat, and gutted the lava beehive inside the cat, and welded the hatch closed, my turbo SCREAMS now. lol. I love it. -Jordan

I went this route a few years ago. Sorry for the delay, but I've been so busy, work, getting married, buying a home, etc. I love my dual with the res tips, sounds awesome, with a low pitch, and you still hear a load turbo whisle.
