40 mpg consistently/city
There's quite a lot of discussion on this topic further back in this thread, so I'll spare everyone the recap. I'm doing pretty well around Boston, although this winter was pretty rough, so my fuelly average is not looking so great right at the moment. But on Friday it was 60 degrees and I had a 100 mile trip, mostly highway, and got 55.9 mpg, MFI indicated. Are you guys getting good mpg with the DSG transmission? Debating over manual or DSG. I just can't stand the traffic in Los Angeles with a manual transmission.
Awesome thank you. Hopefully I can get a deal tomorrow on a platinum gray metallic golf. There's quite a lot of discussion on this topic further back in this thread, so I'll spare everyone the recap. My best guess at this point is that the DSG costs about 1-2 mpg in pure highway cruise FE, but if you do a fair bit of city and traffic driving, the DSG and manual will come out about the same.
I had a regen yesterday morning and again tonight about 75 miles apart.
And to Andy's point on the cold... The high on my inbound 25 mile ride in in hot weather was 76 (indicated) and today in freekin -9 degrees f (holy crap!) 49 MPGs. I have an advantage in he cold too because my Garage is warm so the car is 45-50 rather than freekin -9 to start.
Hey BadWolf and TurnOne, If I recall correctly, you two have among the highest FE numbers that i've seen. Out of curiosity, do you know your typical average speeds?... but I have a 2015 TDI SEL 6 speed manual.
I don't pay attention to the average speed but on my 'extended period' over the last 1678 miles shows 41 mph @ 50.4 mpg.Hey BadWolf and TurnOne, If I recall correctly, you two have among the highest FE numbers that i've seen. Out of curiosity, do you know your typical average speeds?
For reference, I do a mix of city/highway, and each tank typically sits between 30 and 35 mph on average.
Perfect, that's what I was curious about. I've only had one tank at 41 mph average speed, and it was close to that mpg-wise.I don't pay attention to the average speed but on my 'extended period' over the last 1678 miles shows 41 mph @ 50.4 mpg.
Yes, we've seen the same thing, compared to our fuel amount pumped divided by miles driven. Our display is typically indicating 4 MPG higher than what we actually obtained, which are numbers very much like yours. We're driving rural routes, typically 50-75 miles per drive, no slow short distance drives.I never really pay attention to my "extended period" display but I do take a picture of every tank when I refuel. My last few tanks my speed has been 44, 46, 43, 47, 50, 46, 46 mph.....
One thing I have noticed is the displayed mpg is always 4-5mpg higher than the calculated so I don't go off just what it says.
Great info too, thanks. Based on your fuelly average you are doing quite well FE wise. I've been tracking my average speed on every tank too, with the assumption that average speed is a decent single number metric for the type of driving i did tank (city, highway, traffic, etc).I never really pay attention to my "extended period" display but I do take a picture of every tank when I refuel. How broken in are you?I don't pay attention to the average speed but on my 'extended period' over the last 1678 miles shows 41 mph @ 50.4 mpg.
