At one point, all I wanted to do was throw a Molotov cocktail into the passenger compartment of my Golf and watch it burn. Explaining it to my insurance company would have been a struggle, but that's how pissed off at my car I once was. Ever since getting rid of that stupid DPF though, the TDI has been reliable to a fault - kind of like a loyal dog that the wife hates but simply won't die.
I'm now at 116k+ miles with a timing belt change right around the corner. I told my old lady that it's time for a GT500 or a Charger Hellcat, but she won't listen to me. She says "you can buy one of those stupid loud cars when the Golf dies..."
Morale of the story - sometimes it pays to let your current car go up in flames.
