Just in case this has not been posted yet, I thought I would share. I've had this for a couple years now, very useful in picking the TDT as my oil of choice for the PD and the 0w40 Euro for the 2.0T Passat.

I would use TDT for the Passat also.

Most of the time, I use Shell Rotella T6 on my passat

What OCI are you running in the Passat and what type of commute does it have?

5,000 miles and 50 miles round trip, averaging about 40 mph (no stop & go driving).

Hmm, mine is less than 5 miles one-way. It only gets to see the freeway on the weekend...

5k miles OCI for me would be about 5-6 months of these short trips.

Would this be considered "severe service"?

You could change at 1 year or 10K miles.

The weekend highway driving evens out the short trips. I have a 2 mile commute, with weekend trips of 20 to 50 miles. Fuel dilution and soot have been fine.
