Yep, and my beetle filming it :p I'll definitely check out the Hudson one! Thank you :)
There is also Hudson Auto Center in Hudson. Eric Merker is their TDI expert. Just off Exit 4.

Oh, thanks red! I couldn't remember the name of eric's shop. Thought it might have been autowerks🤷‍♂️. JHS.Media, I'd check out hudson auto, eric seems like a nice guy, and has been easy to work with in the past. I've never met him, but we've talked before and he knows his way around the tdi's well.

It used to be called Midwest Motorwerks, when Bob Cook owned it. Now I think Blake and Eric are co-owners, though it might be mostly just Blake. But they are definitely partners and mostly work on German cars -- Mercedes, Audis, BMWs, and of course Volkswagens. Sheridan also works in the shop and Cole mans the front desk.

Same, my wife would have taken away my internet privileges long ago if it wasn't that I make money off the stuff I drag home and sell. I need to stay off FB, CL, and upullrparts. Upull Rosemount has 4 alh's. Just got back from that harvest, the fields have been gleaned!

Which btw, if anyone needs anything I have a ton of parts here and at my parents! That beetle is almost full. I'm going to need another car to use as a shed if I add to much more to my stock.

how convenient, there's a white BEW bug on CL listed as a diesel rather than a tdi. $1k

Hey, I am wondering if any one has an extra front axel heat shield laying around. I believe that it is part number 1j0407721c . It is the shied for the passenger side inner cv boot.
Just thought I'd see if anyone had one they were willing to sell before buying one off of ebay.

Thanks

Wisconsin does not play around with the salt! They make sure everyone gets some. My camera can not pickup just how white and salty this car is. It actually makes it look cleaner then it is. There is 0 difference in these two pictures its just the lighting. Even the 2nd pic hides a lot, so much salt I could use it as a salt lick for the cattle.

Same here in southwest Minnesota, been a mild winter so they got lots of salt to use up and DOT drivers need to get their hours in...
Honestly thats completely believable😄. Government: Oh no! We have reserve tax dollars, we better get them all used up🤣.

Oh, and since were on this topic. Whats the liquid their pouring on the roads in MN? This is a new phenomenon to me.
They pour it from big tank trailers behind the plow trucks. Rides diagonally covering multiple lanes in some applications. I've never seen this before.

Maybe new to where you go / or do not ?
But I've been seeing it for yrs. - I'm mostly in metro area St. Paul , AND do not drive my car [ came from CA ] drive at all in the winter - I wait for a couple of rain storms before driving in spring .
The liquid is a " salt brine " - mostly just before a winter storm .

If it’s the same as used here in the Midwest then it is a salt brine (basically salt melted in water).

Proclaimed Benefits Below:

Faster Melting Action
Salt brine works faster than solid rock salt because it is already in liquid form. This allows it to begin melting ice and snow immediately upon application. There’s no need for the brine to dissolve first, which speeds up the melting process significantly.

Prevention of Ice Formation
Applying salt brine before a snowstorm can prevent ice from forming in the first place. The brine creates a barrier on the surface, preventing ice from bonding to Indiana roads and walkways. This makes it easier to remove snow and reduces the likelihood of slippery conditions.

Cost-Effective
Using salt brine can save money in the long run. It requires less material to cover the same area compared to traditional rock salt. Additionally, because it can be applied more efficiently, labor and operational costs can be reduced.

Environmental Benefits
Salt brine reduces the overall amount of salt needed for de-icing. This leads to less salt runoff into nearby vegetation and water sources, minimizing environmental impact. By using brine, you help protect local Indiana ecosystems from the damaging effects of excess salt.

My FIL has around 15 goats that free-range his farm, if you take any vehicle over there covered like that in salt they will be on it like flies on sh*t and will be licked clean from bottom to 4-5ft from the ground. It looks hilarious

Ok, interesting. I guess I've just never been in the cities driving during a snow storm till this year. Last year we didn't get enough snow and I guess in previous years by the time I got down there it was clear

Don't the goats tongues stick to the metal when it's cold?? Asking for a friend that has suffered that experience...

Been using the brine and some beet juice solution for years in MN. It's horrible stuff as it's sticky and hangs onto everything under the chassis even after washing so it's a very effective corrosion tool.

Haha not that Ive seen, i definitely dont take any of my nice vehicles over there in winter…or ever lol
Knowing goats even if it did stick they would still just pull away leaving behind the top layer of tongue. That would be kinda funny(I know thats wrong). Bunch of goat tongue stuck all over your car😄.

thought about stopping with a shovel and a 5 gallon bucket to grab some of the 4" tall by 10' long piles of salt that are dumped through a bunch of the intersections
but they'd probably shoot me for 'stealing'

Illegal to shoot from the road or vehicle. Your safe.
