I'm attempting to purchase the torn apart engine off him. I want the whole car, but I'm sure I couldn't get away with it. The trans alone is worth it to me....

I honestly should buy it. I'll kick myself later otherwise. I have 2 other car's I could scrap so that would be less cars then I currently have sitting around. Wife should be ok with that right?😄

It has nice rims too! Maybe I should....

Jumped in the bug, started it up, and got a low coolant light. Sure enough almost empty. Not sure whats going on, but I don't have any leaks. I am really hoping I don't have a boost related headgasket leak. Only pushing 22psi so that shouldn't be an issue...
Not sure. No leaks at any of the typical spots.

It has the nice blue that matches your new wagon, you'd be foolish not to get it! :p

Bet he'd do less money if you showed up and took it all, prolly tired of it plugging up the garage

IKR. ugh. The car needs work/put back together, and I'm not sure how it was so carelessly disassembled. Realistically the only things I could use on the wagon would be the fenders and hood, maybe bumper if its good shape. On the other hand it could eventually make a good replacement for the beetle, but with the amount of work it needs and the money that would have to be put into it I'm doubtful it would be worth the effort. That engine bay looks like a disaster, and I'm almost certain the AC is now messed up. A lagoon sedan and wagon would be a nice combo;).

Sawzall and a drop in ranger bedliner would make it into a pickup, haha

Guy dropped it to $500 as I was looking at the ad again. We talked a bit, but someone said they could come today. So its gone now. Which is a bummer. I wanted the trans!

Yes, I do. Sorry been off grid camping for a few days. Sending pics thru the forum are a pain for me. If you have a cell number or email I can send them to send me a PM and I can get you the pictures I have and\or if you need anything specific. Been on this forum and well known since 2004-no scam.
Interior is black fabric (I also have a black "leather" parts Jetta chassis) in very nice shape. Body rusted. Chassis underneath is good shape. Zero Start (Frostheater type) coolant heater.
Runs\drives, starts any time. Tired of it taking up space. Haven't been driving it for a few years.

UPull rosemount, MN has a clean 02 alh jetta in white. Lots of the goodies are missing including the 11mm pump, but Still has some good parts. The subframe is in great shape. looks like a out of state car as it was pretty clean. The interior was really nice. Unfortunate that it was scrapped.

Looking for advice, I need a good mechanic in. East central Minnesota for a preventative maintenance timing belt/ water pump on a 2015 Passat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Precision Imports is close by in Milaca and they do good work. They also have loaner cars if you need one while your is being repaired.

I very highly recommend @greengeeker but I am not sure how much tdi work he is doing anymore. You'd have to reach out to him.

Nope, I did drive through there around 4:15 but was in the (currently way too loud, exhaust fell off) ratty red beetle😄. The wife has the wagon and she was in Savage.

This was like 3:30 or thereabouts, was really throwing me for a loop since it was a white haired guy driving and while I do not remember faces well at all I do remember you as not being quite /that/ old.

Mine's too loud because I'm learning what makes a resonator work. Every change I've made so far has made it worse rather than better.
So far; the perforated pipe through there does indeed muffle more than not having the perforated pipe straight through
also the fiberglass actually does a lot of work, despite being hidden behind the perforated pipe

I'm trying to decide if I want to try the "turbo muffler" overlapping perforated pipes thing, put it back to the way it was with the straight through perforated pipe and fiberglass, or just live with it being hearing-damage-loud.
The laziness is winning out slowly, ear muffs don't help with the drone too well though.

Thankfully no white hairs yet as I'm 23.

Does your exhaust pipe come out past the bumper or no? Even straight piped I don't have awful drone. Mine broke over the rear axle so now it has the big lifted 6.7ps look under there. You know, where they put a 200" over axle tip and point it straight at the ground.

Speaking of sightings. I was cruising down Highway 10 from St. Cloud this afternoon.

Up from behind comes an Indigo Blue Mk IV with the DRL's on. As always I hope it's a wagon, and it IS. The young man is cruising with all the windows down, have to give him the big thumb Up (driving with the other one). As he passes, Holy Cow it's a TDI! I was hoping for a red light hello, but he turned off in Big Lake.

Made me smile this afternoon.

thought I replied to this but I guess I didn't? strange...

I've tried putting it out the back of the car a few times, but keep remembering why I don't do that as exhaust gets in the cabin if you have the windows open. Some stupid quirk of the aerodynamics of the car (wagon and golf too) is that windows down makes the cabin into a low pressure area or something.
so it's side piped, meaning I've only got the trans tunnel area to work with for muffler real estate

Last week I saw a very clean mk4 silver wagon with newer gen rims that were very fancy in Rosemount. It didn't have a tdi badge so i assumed it was a clean 2.0. Later when leaving the store I walked past and it was running. Definite TDI. Upon inquiry the guy stated it was a 03 thay he bought out of wisc. No rust, and it was definitely nicer then my cars. Very nice looking rig.
