Oh it was out and I aware, but the '02 wagon has two tails per side. So I let it ride

Odd that you drove it in fine (maybe unoticed?), then suddenly there's a burnt bulb....
I mean stuff happens just odd it worked that way

I made it from Virginia to hermantown. Just fine. Birms we're soft. Soon as I get here, BAM. stupid plow driver leaves a 2' birm across all 4 lanes. Sounds like they'll total it, again... So buy it back, and fix it. Again. It's all plastics. Junkyard parts. Woo hoo. Probably 3k.
time to build out a cow catcher bumper for it, lol

Lesson of the week, used Local VW dealer for an oil change and wheel rotation. I know they go through the car to find other defects, and they have always treated me right, but they found a tail light out and wanted to replace it. I ok'd it, even though I know that the harness and sockets are 20 plus years old. Yep, new tail light, but no turn signal or brake light. I nursed it back to life today, but will tell them next time, don't touch anything. Just do the change and rotation.
had to scrub the contacts around to get them to conduct through the steel backplane contacts/traces, or did they knock the filaments outta the other two bulbs while handling the backplane?

Him and I both apparently
me too, tore the bottom off the core support, didn't kill the radiators thankfully even though the rad and condenser are pushed like 6" back in the middle they aren't leaking...

Then I'd want to integrate a set of tow-bar mounts into it because of how towbar friendly the manual transmissions are in these.
But it'll prolly never "get done".

I thought it might be a contact issue too, after some meter time, and Dielectric grease, found out it's a wiring issue. Got them up and running again, but might have to cut and resplice (when it's warmer).

Cut out the banged up fender mount and welded in a new one I cut off a parts beetle. Can't even tell its been replaced. Only current problem is i can't seem to get the right side hood to sit nicely. I replaced the hood hinge and even so it still sits just a little crooked. Good enough for today though considering the weather. Just bothers me that the hood is slightly turned to the right and I can't seem to figure out why. I adjusted the hinges for all their worth and still not enough so i don't know whats crooked anymore. Its just enough to be irritating.

That is the plan. With intigrated skidplate
Possibly slight overkill, but this would be ideal. Protects everything important. Might make a head on collision less fun, but for all other interests this is what i need. I just need to improve my welding skills more and figure out where I can get all the steel to do it cheaply.

If you guys would just quit run-in' into stuff...
Can't too much free meat out there🤷‍♂️.

On a more serious note that would be nice. First crash, hopefully last. Never had a problem until I moved to the cities. Now close (ish) calls are sadly a weekly occurrence with the people i meet on the roads down here. No blinkers, sudden lane changes, 70 in a 60 with icy roads.....ect.

Hey. Was snowing, white birm that a plow left across both sides of the hwy. And it was hard. Not just that but it was ice under... Yes I'm normally the guy passing everyone. That everyone says they'll see me in the ditch. Cm on now. The birm shouldn't have been left.

*Hrumph* *angry incoherent babling*

I have noticed when I'm driving through Wisconsin that there are some straight #2 diesel pumps at QuikTrip. So just look for a sign on the pump that it is winterized.

Better than the days of mixing #1 and #2 in a 1978 Diesel Rabbit.

Now they actually do change the formula for winterization through the winter months, so if you haven't filled up for a couple months I would definitely add some Antigel to an existing tank.

With this cold blast do any of you prep? Like add antigel or do you trust gas stations winterized enough?

I'm on a small town city council which means I get to do stuff like find water leaks and plow snow at times. We've got a diesel tractor for that and a hundred gallon diesel tank which sometimes takes months for us to use up, so we try to buy fuel for it in the winter so we get winterized diesel with the minimum biodiesel content.

What's up everyone! This seems to be the popping thread on here. Just like the Chicago sub was on the mk6 golf forums I came from. I actually bought my jsw in Minnesota so it would be funny to come across the previous owner on here.

It's a moonrock silver jsw 6mt. Had 107k miles when I bought it. Supposedly mechanic owned. They said they were a Toyota tech.

Welp. Body shop had a estimate. $7500 to fix it. So. I'll buy it back again and fix it. About 5-700 to get it running again then it's just plastics

Well, just got the call from insurance. They're going to give me $8,800 for it. Buy back is $1,000 and my deductible is 500. So I will still get $7,300.

Not bad. Should be plenty to fix it back up with that much. And maybe add some more fun stuff to it.

It's stage 4. To get any more power I have to up the fuel regulator to higher pressure get bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. There is maybe five more PSI within this turbo. With the current setup with bigger injectors there may be 20 more whp 40 ft lb

I've seen some pretty crazy insurance pay outs recently. My buddy got ~11,500 for his 01 jeep cherokee that he had ~4500 into. Weird stuff. It was a clean jeep for MN with like 160k on it, slight oversized tires and a 2" lift. His "upgrades" they decided made it worth more however that is.
