Did anyone see the add from Fleet Farm? Delvac 1 ESP $23.95 per gallon with a $12.00 per gallon main-in rebate. That puts it at $11.95 per gallon, limit of 5.

That was their regular price, not a sale price, the last time I bought oil there. But the $12/gallon rebate makes it a super deal. And AFAIK no other retailer sells Delvac 1 for anywhere close to that price; at truckstops it's in the range of $36-$38 a gallon or maybe more.

Yes, the $12.00 rebate makes the deal.
At that price I'm gonna stock up and run it in everything...
(not to start an oil debate...) :p

If you wanted to keep the emissions stuff, I'd say fix it right away, less than 200 miles, but it sounds like you don't care, so it'll be fine until we permanently fix it :)

:D Nope I sure dont want the flow inhibitors. Im thinking race pipe straight threw stainless so I can hope it lasts for life of vehical. I dont want to spend unnecessary money but when something fails I dont replace I upgrade.

i only have 387k on it now. I did what you would call 'mufflerectomy' and since i was feeling cheap i just chopped out the internals, welded it shut and have malone 1.5 tune done on ecm. The best bet is probably to to a rawtech exhaust, although with the mileage i have on mine couldn't justify the cost. Have notice no issues with the car or heat/etc. other than slightly better mileage.

I presently have 199k miles on my '03 wagon and will need to change the timing belt soon. Live in the southern Twin Cities suburbs. Does anyone have a set of timing belt tools available for borrow or rent in the next month?

T-4 months I will be back in MN. Got a nice early retirement package from CAT but it is a little early as I have to work 2 more years.

281,000 miles on my 2002 ALH 646 miles to low fuel this past tank; same performance as when it was a baby in the world.

Heh, funny how these cars are. You modify them to go faster, and it improves the fuel economy too.

Has anyone seen their MPG drop drastically last week? I normally get 47-48 mpg and last week when it was cooler it dropped to 42. Is the cold really taking that big of a hit with it's efficacy?

I've seen a significant improvement in fuel economy with the cooler weather, no doubt because of a reduced need to use the air conditioner. In fact, my Golf's 5-tank moving average of fuel mileage is currently the highest it's been since late March. For me, MPGs are always best in the spring and fall, worst in the hottest period of the summer and the coldest part of the winter, since I came back to Minnesota four years ago.

fuse on top of the battery, 4 pin plug to the left of that toward the bottom - that 4 pin plug is your AC clutch and alternator wires, check continuity if the fuse is ok.

Don't the fuel stations around here start moving to a winter mix in mid-October? Doesn’t apply if you haven't filled recently, but winter mix definitely does not provide the mileage unmixed fuel does. Could also be a mix of lower tire air pressure, longer warmup times, and maybe even more load on the engine if you're using the heater now.

Tire where checked and have normal air pressure, I don't warm the car up, really hasn't been that cold yet, and the fan is always running in the car either blowing hot air or cold air. Only thing I can think of might be to play with ip timing and i.q values.

I just filled my cummins up this week and it's mileage dropped too. Looks like it is the winter blended fuel.
