Car seems to run so much better then it did before. Not sure if its the clutch or the TB was off a little causing it to have a rough idle, but now when sitting at a stop light you cant feel the motor running before you could see the steering wheel have a slightly vibration.

Clutch feels strong but its a little weird to drive as it does need hardly any clutch pressure to engage it unlike my old one.

All in all it went well the only thing I need to get is the speed sensor for the back of the transmission to night from the stealership. Then shes done. (for know).

Thanks all that helped it was much appericted.

Mike
Glad to hear that you got it running again. The vibration you felt before at steering wheel was from failing DMF when it starts to fail it gets disbalanced and cause severe vibration. I've seen on TDI where whole transmission side was rocking, it was pretty scary, replaced the clutch with VR6 SMF conversion kit and she ran very smooth again.

So what was the deal with clutch not arriving on time, its very rare that parts from Aaron dont get dilivered ontime.

There are retro fit harness you can buy I seen them at few places online for sale around $60 if I remember correctly. Check on boraparts.com or idparts.com or worldimpex.com either places should have them if not then they can get you one. I personaly never installed one so cant help with details how hard its to install, but if your good with electrical and wiring diagram then it will be fairly easy to do.
I checked online for those three and didn't come up with anything. If you happen to see them soon please let me know. I would love to have the leather in the bug. I have some time before I start driving it, I need to do the belt first.

It was just a simple screw up on Aaron end. He has since made everything right. No hard feeling to be had on my end.

Went over to the dealership last night and got my Speed sensor parts and got them installed.

Still have a ABS light on and a flashing brake light that I cant figure out. Neither one of these was one before I took the car apart.

Any suggestion on where to start?

Having done into it to much but check for codes with my code reader and got nothing.

Thanks
Mike

Dodge Center huh? Well, if you want a decent place, you'll probably have a ~30 minute commute. Rochester is the bigger town and has many options for apartments (starting around 500/month, though that's a bit of a craphole). Your other choice is Owatonna, which could be a bit cheaper, but its a pretty dull town and quite small.

A flashing brake light is almost always a bad abs control module. Not a cheap fix, though you can disable and remove the module without issue (besides losing ABS). It could also be a steering angle sensor, though I believe that is only if the car is equipped with ESP.

Cant think of anything of my head that had be disconnected when removing engine/tranny that could cause abs/brake ligth come on. Since you broke vehicle speed sensor and had car running then I would assume that codes stored from open/short signal to speed sensor in ABS module and simply needed reset. Without VCDS scanning ABS module hard to figure out whats going on, other then checking make sure everything is reconnected in place.

I suggest install new speed sensor, disconnect battery for few seconds and reconect back then see if lights will still stay on.

I really have no idea what is available as far as apartments goes but my guess is you will most likely have to be in or very near Rochester in order to find any that is furnished and decent.

Good luck on your search and welcome to Vikings country!

Leppy, have you considered flipping the turbo to put the compressor on the drivers side for a direct inlet from the air box and more efficient routing through your FMIC?

I guess I hadn't put a ton of thought into it as fas as which side the compressor would be on. I had planned on going with a stock setup with the compressor side on the pass. side and then clocking it to face upwards so I could go along the Timing belt.

I would have to disassemble the turbo to make that work. The feed and drain tubes would not be in the right place for that.

But the plan is more efficient charge pipe routing.

How you transmission will handle the new parts on you tdi?
I am hoping that it will handle the power fine, as it will be freshly rebuilt AGAIN. Damn spring clip on the gear selector snapped in half (probably due to the 280k of wear to it) and ran through the pinion gear and the ring gear.

Anybody considering a GTG soon? (need to do wheel bearing and a few other things)

Hi Guys,

A4 Jetta ~ 185k

Wondering if anyone is considering a GTG in the near future. I've got a bad front wheel bearing. I also need to check out a sticking eBrake cable (one side only), and probably should replace my brake fluid.

Alternatively, anybody have the knowledge and shop relationship to get the job done? I have 185,000 miles. Any guidance as to whether both should be done?

Thanks much guys!!

If the eBrake cable is sticking or you have a hole better to replace both side.

may you can trial to put same lubrication, but that one is harder than replacing the cable
Whit 185k ill replace fur sure my2c

I am on eurowerks. They are a good bunch and have regular gtg during the week. If you register there you will be able to view the Rochester gtg thread. It is in the members event forum.

Rochester is pretty big, I'm sure you will find lots to do. I've been there a few times to visit friends that live there...

I'm on the eurowerks forum, as are a couple others on here. Never been to a eurowerks meet or anything though.
