Not a Happy Camper.

Order my clutch from BoraParts last Tuesday and was told I would have them by last weekend. Weekend came and went didnt think nothing off it thought it would show up on Monday.

Monday came nothing so I called him and asked if he had a tracking number. He apogized and said he forgot to ship them it out. I was told it would go out today and I would have it in 2 days. Ok I can deal with that.

That brings me to today look at the tracking number to see if it has been droped of yet and my house. Nope of course not it still sitting and his place.

Now im not even sure if I'mm going to see it by this weekend.
The money I saved going with BoraParts is quickly getting burned up by me driving my truck for an extra week.:mad::mad::mad:

I try and support vendors on sites that I'm on but I could have went down to Futher and payed $50 more and had it last thursday.

Rant Over
Mike
Also sorry to hear that. Try IDparts next time. I have always had excellent shipping with them (cross my fingers since I have a package in the mail right now from them)

Anybody local in the twin cites have the tool to install the crank seal. I just got hard plastic seal from napa and in the process of installing it I screwed it up when it went from the flat on the crank to the round part. Got another one order but I'm affraid the same thing will happen again.

Thanks
Mike

The rear main seal? If you order one from idparts or get one from the dealer, it will come with the proper tool already on it. I'll dig around my garage and see if I still have them from when I did mine and Isonic did his.

Every time I've ordered from IDparts its taken at most 4 days to get my stuff, sometimes 2.

It was the front main seal.(TB side). I ended up going back to work and turning up a round part that slide over the crank that was .010" thick slide the seal on that then slide the tool on the crank. Tapped the seal into position on the outside diameter then pulled the tool away. Seem to work. Will find out when my clucth shows up and I get it back together.

I called both the deal and IDparts and none of them had the tool for the front main seal, so I had to go this route.

Hopefully every thing shows up today and I can get the car back together.

That front main seal installer is $18 at tools.vw.com. http://buy.equipmentsolutions.com/VWAudiEcom/SpecialToolsDetail.aspx?type=Tools&itemId=6140008

It's surprising how reasonable tools are straight from vw.
No kidding right? about 90% of all specialty tools I endup buy from them, since they are cheaper even with shipping. Every other place I tried like baumtools, zelenda, and some other places lot more expensive. Like for example gasser cam timing tensioner tool from VW is $9.95 and every other places i check is no less then $20, $35 plus shipping, redicilous.

I'm guessing you had to wait a while. Get the pork cutlet sandwich or the hot wings! I'll swing by there tomorrow and if there isn't a ridculous line I'll stop in.

Good thing I didnt meet you down there then. I'm also driving the truck and didnt feel like dealing with all the idiots that are down there.

Instead of fixing the golf this weekend I get to do ball joint and brakes on the truck. Lucky me atleast this will stop it from feeling like driving a grocery cart down the road. lol

It may also include some mad AWD mk2 content, depending on how productive my week is.

No disrespect to fellow tdiclub member, but I wonder if there is more to the story, then no time to fix it and keep driving. Funny that he says that you can find tranny locally for $500, that he did search and found one supposedly. Wouldnt you think that guy would buy tranny specialy for such good deal as $500 and have it replaced for another $300-$450 labor. Basically for another $1k fix a car and keep driving it or sell it for more as in perfect working condition.

Perfect thank you.

My clutch final showed up last night, so hopefully tonight I can get this thing all back together and drive it for the first time in 2.5 weeks.

98 Beetle 63,258 at purchase
New guy in Minnesota Looking to buy or rent timing belt tools.

I just bought a 98 Beetle. The car has been sitting since 06, the previous owner claims that he had the belt done right before 60,000 it has 63,500 on it now. With the age of the belt I am nervous and wanting to change it before I start driving it.
I also bought a wrecked 03 beetle from the same guy that has very nice black leather heated seats. I was wanting to use them in mine but the seat airbag plug is different than mine, I dont want to risk them not working if I need them someday.
I have a friend that wants the console, carpet and seats. I want to get a fair price and not screw him over so if you guys could give me an idea what the going price for these would be all the parts are very nice with the exception of a very small flaw in the driver seat.

Update on my Golf. She alive and moving under its own power for the first time in 2.5 weeks. Only took me about 4hrs to get it all back together. Didnt think that was to bad as I had the motor and trans out of the car.

Car seems to run so much better then it did before. Not sure if its the clutch or the TB was off a little causing it to have a rough idle, but now when sitting at a stop light you cant feel the motor running before you could see the steering wheel have a slightly vibration.

Clutch feels strong but its a little weird to drive as it does need hardly any clutch pressure to engage it unlike my old one.

All in all it went well the only thing I need to get is the speed sensor for the back of the transmission to night from the stealership. Then shes done. (for know).

Thanks all that helped it was much appericted.

Is there any way to hook up the seat heaters? Something like a retro fit harness? I'm new to VW's.
There are retro fit harness you can buy I seen them at few places online for sale around $60 if I remember correctly. Check on boraparts.com or idparts.com or worldimpex.com either places should have them if not then they can get you one. I personaly never installed one so cant help with details how hard its to install, but if your good with electrical and wiring diagram then it will be fairly easy to do.
