Thank you tango_28 for the CCV puck!

Funny story he told me, I guess he made an offer on my passat a few years back :)

Mike, Do you think those aluminum fittings will be ok in the cast turbo with the temperature swings it will see? That sure is a cheap alternative for a replacement!

I thought about the samething. It really shouldnt be any issue but when I get some spare time I'm going to try and find a Steel one just for peice of mind.

Its hard to find AN fitting to metric threads let alone finding them in different material.

Best/worst dealers in town for rusty fender replacement? Would like to get it taken care of while I'm out of town on vacation in two weeks. Thanks.
Denied at Burnsville  no holes = no replacement

GlenB4 - Interesting because I had my front fender completely replaced at this Burnsville dealership 3 years ago. And I did not have any holes, just a large section of the paint popped off with rust underneath. All at no charge.

Did you contact VW directly?

Can anyone here recommend a good body shop in the metro area? Preferably in the northeast metro near White Bear Lake.
I was very happy with the job Raymond Auto Body did on my JSW (replaced a bumper cover that suffered the same problem). They're not far from the State Fairgrounds. It's at least the NE quadrant of the metro. :)

Looks like I need to see a dealer about the front fenders on my JSW. Bought the car from Burnsville VW but haven't been back there because 1) who goes to dealerships? and 2) if I have to see one, both Schmelz and IGH VW are closer (used Schmelz before for service; wouldn't set foot in IGH while it was a Hecker property). Which one of these do you folks think would be most amenable to the claim? Which one can do the work (dunno if any of them have body shops or if I'd want to use them; I have my own body shop to use if I'm free to go anywhere once approved)?

TIA...

Figured out clutch issue

Figured out clutch issue. I'll let the photo speak for them self but it looks like the pressure plate came apart causing the disc to get ground to a million little pieces.

Well you've got Chris beat. his clutch disk was in backwards and ate away at the DMF and the pressure plate but it never came apart.

That's pretty nasty, Did it damage anything else?

Nothing damaged in the transmission. I found out why it's hard to go in 5th gear. The shift shaft that goes down in the transmission bearing is gone/worn out.

Hahahaha, I i was right on money about the pressure plate cracked, but seriously thats the worse one I everseen in my life. BTW I have one 5sp tranny at shop that has same issue were 5th gear sticks, we just ended up getting another low miles tranny and swapped in. Didn't wanted to bother rebuilding it, needed car back on road asap. Good luck with everything putting back together!

Thanks I was hopping to have it done by the end of the weekend but my clutch never showed up so hopefully sometime next week.

I did manage to brake the Vehicle speed sensor on the back of the transmission pulling the connector off. Looks like I will need to head up to U pull Our Parts and get one. Hopefully they are the same as a gas motor.

Mike,
There is a1999 Jetta at the Rosemount U Pull R. I didn't look too closely, but it looks like a 02J transmission sitting on the ground in front of it. Next to the last row, all the way at the end.
I pulled the cabin air filter housing and 3rd visor for my 98 out of it.

Whew!!! Pretty crazy weekend: A4, A3, A5, A4, A3, B4, B5. Oh, and for the first time, I've had to respond to a fire in the middle of a timing belt job - thanks for tagging along Nick!

Mine was the A5, Nick did a great job (TB), and as always a pleasure to hang out with.

After that weekend... I wonder if he is really a machine...

Welp, had a bad night last night.

Speed sensor ring on the diff broke, and is causing the bearing to whine, got a boost leak, quantity adjuster on the IP is weird and causing chugging under light throttle.

Nick,

Hold onto one of those AHU TB tensioners for me. I still want to compare it to my AHH.
FYI, AHH timing gear might be an upgrade for AHU/1Z - I think the belt is slightly wider.

The Jetta is happily purring away after Frank worked his magic on the head and I got everything re-assembled.

If anyone knows where I can find a proper 02J(EGR tranny code) locally, let me know, I have most of the 5spd swap but need that and the starter and likely a few more parts.

I should also note that Nick has been big help in this entire process behind the scenes.

Not a Happy Camper.

Order my clutch from BoraParts last Tuesday and was told I would have them by last weekend. Weekend came and went didnt think nothing off it thought it would show up on Monday.

Monday came nothing so I called him and asked if he had a tracking number. He apogized and said he forgot to ship them it out. I was told it would go out today and I would have it in 2 days. Ok I can deal with that.

That brings me to today look at the tracking number to see if it has been droped of yet and my house. Nope of course not it still sitting and his place.

Now im not even sure if I'mm going to see it by this weekend.
The money I saved going with BoraParts is quickly getting burned up by me driving my truck for an extra week.:mad::mad::mad:

I try and support vendors on sites that I'm on but I could have went down to Futher and payed $50 more and had it last thursday.

Rant Over

Sorry to hear that Mike. I too have had issues with items being shipped separately from different locations: the first makes it on time but the 2nd doesn't. This doesn't work when you need both!
