Is there anyone besides diesel geek who makes a skid plate for the 2011 mkvi jetta tdi sedan? Just weighing my options, I have seen more than enough feedback to say its a legit skid plate I am just curious if there's any others?

I have never purchased anything from him but I hear from everyone that he makes great products. The car in the picture is from (Ancira) in Texas and the Service Manager loves his products and let him use a brand new Jetta to use and prototype the skid plate. So that's saying quite a bit, I've been looking at them too and will get one soon.

I'm in the market for a skid plate soon and will go with DG without hesitation. I just installed the short shift kit and this thing is awesome. The quality is top notch and shipping was lightning quick.

As of about a month ago he did not have the right skid plate for the 2011 Sedan. Might want to email/call before you place your order just to make sure.

Yea. he called me a couple times. Said someone installed one and the bolt holes were not right or something. He is supposed to call/email me when he starts to get them set up right. I haven't heard anything. I guess it seems odd to me now that I think about it.

i recall reading that someone had the same issue cus he was just using a jack...once he used ramps, it was all good.

well, i'm pretty handy with tools, woodworking, steel working (welding and stuff), i was wondering if anyone ever considered cutting/drilling their own and saving a couple hundred bucks off the DG's? just wondering. :)

i was entertaining the idea of building my own but after seeing that a 3'x4' piece of 1/8" (3mm) aluminum is already $200+, you might as well buy DG's 5mm panzer plate...it's already all cut up, bent up for you to bolt it on.

I already got DG's short shifter and loving it. I'll probably pick up the plate in a bit.

if i didnt go DG id be looking at evo had that on my mk4 and it was amazing
doesn't look like they got one for the MKVI jetta. not only that, but they're the same thickness (DG vs. Evo). It's a tad cheaper for shipping to the states too (DG) :p

I order my plate today from Dieselgeek at 1607, at 1612 I had a tracking number, sadly I had to pay sales tax, but even with the cheapest shipping it's gonna here tomorrow, my wifes 2011 will finally have the protection VW should have put there to begin with.

Good.
VW dealers can't complain as it's OEM
My dealer has never complained about my DG Panzer Plate. In fact the service tech came out the first time I took it into the dealer (10,000 mile "free" service) and asked me where I got it - he wanted one for his car. IMHO: If you dealer complains about any skid plate - it's time to find a new dealer.

Have Fun!

help! i just started to do the plate install and have some questions.

1.) Might be a stupid question but does this plate go on TOP of the existing plastic plate? j/w since this would leave some holes where the old plastic cover used to cover.

2.) See the first image below.

2a.) I can't get the holes for "B" and "C" to go into the screws that are coming down from the frame. Any ideas? they won't line up.

2b.) Is the nut "A" suppose to go right into the frame? (just looks silly since I'm thinking it'll just fall right out? no?)

3.) Questions for the image below:

3a.) What are the two black nuts for? they're the type that the washer will sit still while the nut screws. I only got two of them. Seems like they'd fit right into the three screws that goes into the rear end of the plate.

3b.) I'm guessing three aluminum thick washers go between the screw and the chassis. correct?

I tried to look at the MKV install directions but it doesn't look like they're that similar.

You remove the plastic belly pan cover when you do the install, but you can put it back on before permanently installing the panzer. You might have to do a little trimming of the plastic cover for it to fit.

As for your real problem (fitment), I really can't help you much. I have installed one on a Mk5 but never on a Mk6. I would try to contact Jim (Dieselgeek) by phone or email. He might be available today (no guarantees on a Saturday), he will certainly be available on Monday. He is a great guy and he will gladly talk you through any issues you are having.

Have Fun

Don

Decision made early in my TDI schooling. I do most like the seal of the entire area and I was a bit worried back then how they'd handle my having a plate. If I did it again, I'd go DG or Evo. Not that I regret having the OEM.

i did the test fit for DG and everything fits fine. YOU MUST LIFT THE CAR or you MUST use ramps. Do not use jacks to install this products, your holes will never line up.

Your 1st picture:
Insert the bolt first and then put the two nuts. in your 2nd picture, the 2 black nuts are for your picture 1 (2) screws that are on the car. (not sure if it makes sense)

As for your picture 2, the 3 spacers and small black bolts are to replace the 3 bolts that are currently holding the plastic belly pan. remove the 3 bolts and replace with the 3 inlucded. The spacers go between the plastic belly pan and the DG plate.

Let me see if i can dig up my DIY on this. It was done while back and lot of pictures.

I did both, i used rhino ramps first, then i jacked the car under the frame with a jack, i then lifted it up pretty high then used jack stands.

in my first pic, should i cut the two screws coming down? it looks like the if you line up hole "B", then the two holes where you screw UP lines up just fine, BUT, the hole "C" for the other screw coming down, is off by about 1/4 inch, so it will NOT go up. I could be an idiot and completely wrong, but I don't see how having it up just on the ramps will magically move that screw a quarter inch.

i know where the three screws and three spacers go, that's pretty common sense from the get-go, but my question was for the two black washer/nuts that seem to go into those THREE screws...

let me know, thanks! (I will contact Jim and see what he says, if I do need to put it just on the ramps, I will try that again this week)
