Hello gurus,

I am in process of doing a brake upgrade on my 2012 jetta premium TDi. It has the 6 SPD manual.

I have discovered that the rear rotors I received are 272mm and my stocks are 260mm. Looking on rock auto.com, it appears there are many 272mm rotor choices for 2012 but only a couple that are 260mm.

Anyway, do you know any detail on when the change in brakes took place, what size is most current? Is a simple caliper bracket swap all that is necessary if I want to run the 272mm?

Thanks!

How many miles on your current brakes? Is it possible you've simply worn 12mm off?

I'd place my bet on being able to use your current calipers with both, just gotta compress them enough. Worst case is you put the old rotors back on until you can get new calipers?

Most likely a bracket swap with different calipers are needed imho. My old half year Jetta was a bastard for parts.. apparently the discs were slightly bigger for the GLS that had the 1.8 vs the 2.0... I'd imagine it's probably the same issue with TDI's as well... Just a guess though.

This may be the answer

According to Centric's website, the Jetta only comes with 272mm rear rotors. However, they show a 260mm and a 272mm as being available for the Golf. My guess is that my Jetta has the "Lucas" rear brakes in 260mm that they show for the Golf.
