I just ordered a mini to micro usb adapter and it did not work for my MDI interface. Apparently this expensive system only works for Ipods and old fashioned mini USB's. This after an agonizing 6 weeks where my Android phone didn't work with the Bluetooth. So now I am back to Blackberry but still no adaptability to the micro USB. Anybody have success with this?

My 9w3 stopped working yesterday when my son changed languages on the MFD.
I guess my coding is wrong, can someone, post the ORIGINAL code for a 9w3 please, so I can check my codding?

Thanks In advance

And what happens when you change the MFD language back to what it was when the 9W3 was working? Also, what year/model car are you in?

P.S. Is that your New Beetle RSi in your avatar pic??

I recently purchased a 2010 Jetta and my Blackberry and iPhone worked from day 1 on MFD and using steering controls..

The system will only allow 1 phone to be connected to BT. Is there anyway to have both phones connected at the same time? I have a work and personal phone and it is a pain not having both work.. Prior to this car I used a ear piece that allows multiple phones and was awesome but really would prefer not to use an ear piece if I can get car to do both at the same time.

Did you try and clear the code?

I've not seen that fault code before, but when control modules give a fault like that it's generally an indicator that something is wrong with the software onboard.

TDIClub Bluetooth FAQ (Updated 12/30/2010 - Look at new 9W7 info)

...

New 9W7 Info:

Member rolfovolvo has provided some more detailed information on the 9W7 family of BT modules:

Module with part number 7P6 035 730 B does not have Voice Recognition and Text to speech but HFP and A2DP as normal and sells a lot cheaper. This device might not be sold in the US via the parts counter, but might be imported and sold on the grey market.

Modules with part numbers: 7P6 035 730 C and 7P6 035 730 D both have voice recognition but the D variant is also capable of connecting to an external phone cradle for charging.

...
Can someone confirm if 9w7 C has Text To Speach?

I have a 2010 Jetta and I think I have 9w3, I need to record a name in the car in order to dial by name, I am wondering if I need to do the same (record the name) using 9w7 or not?

I am assuming that's what Text To Speach is suppose do.

I have a 2011 Golf TDI with BT, my phone book synced without a problem but it synced all my emails as well. I now have 1100 contacts to scroll through. My phone is a Nokia E71, I tried getting rid of unwanted contacts from phone and do a re pair but it retains the original contacts. Does anyone know how to delete contacts from the cars memory??

After my cell phone is linked to the 9W7 and my phonebook entries are loaded, any entry in the phonebook can be spoken once I press the PTT button. After I speak a name followed by "Call," (or is it "Dial"?)the 9W7 responds by repeating the entry it thinks I stated, and its category type (mobile, office, home, other, etc.), asking me if the name it is repeating is correct. When I say, "Yes," the number is dialed.

Edit...Actually, I can simply say the name alone and the system immediately dials the number without asking for a confirmation.

One interesting benefit/feature in my 9W7 is when I update my phonebook in my phone it updates automatically in the car... don't know if this was covered previously.

I did the RNS-510/9W7 swap for my dad last week in his 2010 Golf TDI, he loves it, except for two issues. I couldn't get the right coding exactly for the 9W7 so the green/yellow LED doesn't work though everything else is functional, and the module reports no errors on the CAN bus. And the phone book isn't big enough since he syncs his phone to Outlook and has too many contacts.

...the green/yellow LED doesn't work...
Unfortunately, the LEDs do not illuminate with the 9W7 installed. The new 2011 Jetta setup with the factory installed 9W7 does not illuminate the LEDs either. No one has yet revealed any coding which activates the LEDs.

(I have taken a 9W7 apart and can see that there are components connected to the contact pins which were used to drive the LEDs with the 9W2. The components inside the 9W7 are drive transistors, protection diodes and current limiting resistors, and the PCB traces extend to a microprocessor in the system. There is no question in my mind that the firmware in the 9W7 could drive the LEDs...and may already have the ability to do so with appropriate coding.)

Regardless, the overhead buttons do still function as they did with the 9W2.

It is possible to turn on a Bluetooth connect/disconnect signal with VCDS # 77 Telephone in adaption, I did it and it works... not as good as the light but you know when the phone is dropped or connected.

Yes...I read that you or someone else had done that. Do you recall which code bit (or Byte) is changed to activate the feature?

Fair enough, but I've spoken with an acquaintance with a GTI with factory 9W7 and functional LED's. I'll be hooking up VCDS to his car and pulling coding in a couple of weeks. May not work but worth a shot.

Funny thing here, with the 9W2 everyone thought the light was a distraction at night, when they upgraded to the 9W7 they missed it.... go figure?

Me, I thought it was worthwhile, hope it works out.

That is funny. I never minded mine, I don't miss it either, since running an aftermarket radio with Bluetooth, but I really would like to find a use for the three buttons up there.

The buttons will still work with the 9W7. It is just the one LED (red, green, or amber depending on the operating mode) which I have never seen working with a 9W7

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking to find out, I am on 9w2 and have to store each name in the car (record them) in order to dial by name, vw seems to be so behind in BT technology..

Yeah, I know, they work fine on my dad's car. On my car, I removed the 9W3 and the RCD-510. I'm using an AVIC-Z120BT which has the Bluetooth integrated in the head unit. No external module. The three overhead buttons aren't hooked up to anything so I could wire them to something if I can think of a use for them.

Question on 9W7 (2011 JSW): how long is the wait after pairing/A2DP-established before the head unit would play "Bluetooth Audio" via the Media button?

Paired with my Touch Pro 2, MFD would show Media Player as connected (MFD: phone -> bluetooth -> media player), but pressing the Media button on the head unit would show the "no media" message. If I leave it alone for about 3+ minutes, then press Media again, the Head Unit would then stream "Bluetooth Audio".

It's not the phone because when the TP2 is paired with another BT unit (Moto T505), the audio play is immediate.

VW was slow to adopt Buetooth into their vehicles. They should have waited to introduce Bluetooth until they had a completely handsfree system, but their accessory team was being pressured to come up with a "factory" option. The 9W2 was an interim solution. I was selling Parrot systems with complete handsfree steering wheel functionality (www.quickconnectproducts.com) long before VW introduced their Volkl (Nokia) system. The Parrot kit was completely voice activated too. I had one in my 08 R32, and had it removed and re-installed into my '09 Jetta TDI. Now I have a 2010 Golf TDI and woe is me I have the 9W2...not a big deal, I don't initiate a lot of calls when driving, but going to check into getting the 9W3 module.

OK. I just read all of this and I am not sure I understand it. I just took delivery of a 2011 Sportwagen. Paired my phone to the cars bluetooth. I can make voice activated calls but am not sure if I have caller id because no one has called me in while in the car yet.

Problem is: The vehicle will not download my phone contacts. Had the service guy look at it. He paired HIS cell phone to the vehicle and it saw his contacts.

Checked the VW website and my phone (Droid 2 Global) is listed as compatible.

So, am I reading that I have to take it back to the dealer and have them "fix the code" ???
