Bluetooth frustration

I bought my sportwagen last week and have used the Bluetooth daily since then. I am having trouble using my voice command on my Blackberry through the car unit to establish the call. It appears through the Bluetooth threads that the functions of my bluetooth (No NAV) is limited by the factory. Any sugestions where I can get it reprogrammed in the Baltimore/Harrisburg/Philly areas?

Is anyone using a Tracfone with Bluetooth in their BT-enabled VWs? I'm thinking about getting the following phone, and am wondering if it will work with the 2010 Golf I'm picking up today:

I am using a Tracfone Motorola W376g which works on my 2011 Golf but I haven't managed to get the phone book to show up yet. Still playing:)

Read the whole thread. There is a dispute going on with VWOA about this. You probably do not have the voice capability. You might want to join the class action suite. Again, read the thread.

You can play all you want, If you have the low bluetooth option, you do not have a phonebook. Ask your dealer and see the runaround you get. Read the whole thread.

UPDATE:
***NEVERMIND ***
Found the thread about the 9W7
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=280030&page=11
***************

ok, 15 pages read and I think I know as much as before... ok, a little more :)
Got my 2010 JSW last week (no NAV), paired my iPhone4 at the dealer and was able to make a call (dialed on the phone) as well as take a call (using both the button on the steering wheel and the headliner). I was also able to stream my music via BT Audio.
All that make me think I got the 9W-2.
I read here that the 9W-3 while allowing the phonebook transfer and dialing would also disable the BT Audio.

What about the 9W-7 ?
Will that finally allow everything to work (for a non Nav Radio ?)

Thanks,
Volker

What literature a are you reading. I had to look very closely at the 2010 Jetta/Jetta Sportwagen brochure but it does exclude the "with voice control" from the wagen in the very fine print. I would love to find something that stated otherwise.

SP
VWofA; said:
2nd to last page of Jetta 2010 customer brochure
2.0L TDI
includes :2.0L140HP,TDI engine,;All 2.5L SE features plus; 16" biolinealloy wheels with all-season tires; Leather wrapped mutifuntion steering wheel; Highline combi-intrument cluster display; *****SKIP TO THE BLUETOOTH...*** personalization features;voice controlled bluetooth hands Free Calling system with voice control; *** SKIP THE REST***
VW's customer brochure for Jetta 2010 does not exclude voice control, the above quote from the 2010 Jetta / SW broschure under standard options.

I will not be suprised if a class action lawsuit is brought on for this also over the next year.

EDIT:
I spoke with VWofA today, thgey basically said well we have a disclaimer on the very back of the brochure
"features options may change without notice" I wonder of anyone is going to start a class action lawsuit...

Clarify for me:

2010 Golf TDI with 9W2.

Other than audio streaming, what am I missing if I upgrade to 9W3 insted of 9W7?

Someone on here had a 2010 Golf with 9W3. He had electrical issues with the car, and the dealer swapped into a 2011 with 9W7.

He said that people have told him that there is a huge improvement in sound quality. They said that it sounded like he was at the end of a tunnel before, and now it sounds like he is in the next room.

The 9W7 is less expensive
The 9W7 is easier to install
The 9W7 has expanded voice commands
The 9W7 has expanded functional capabilities
The 9W7 will allow you to use the overhead control buttons already in the car
Need more?

Just my data point. I have a 2011 JSW and with my Droid phone I often stream Pandora Internet Radio, use Google Maps NAV, and make or take calls...simultaneously. It all works very very well. My only gripe is that it seems that I have to start Pandora after I start the car, for the car to link up. Just a minor thing.

Got my 9W7 today, installed it in about 2 minutes. RCD-510 system. Only thing that doesn't work is the overhead LED (as many have mentioned). It seems to work great with my Samsung Captivate phone. I need to learn more about how to use it but so far 9W7 blows the factory 9W2 or whatever I had out of the water. Thanks Steve.

The above post was from several months ago, but it prompted me to answer...

We have a TracFone supplied W376g. The phonebook will not download to the car. This is a phone problem. The BT download feature is disabled in the phone and cannot be corrected.

I just installed a 9W7 in a '10 Jetta. I'm only getting streaming audio out of the right channel using a Moto Droid. Should it be stereo audio?

The wiring harness for a 9w3 equipped car has only one audio channel, whereas a car originally equipped for 9w2 will have a stereo wiring harness. You need to run two stranded wires from the connector on the BT module to the radio harness if you had 9w3 installed.

I found a local place (Gold Seal Audio Wurks) that is going to run the wires for me. They're a good place and have done work for me in the past.

I just took delivery of a 2011 Jetta last week. At the dealership, two salesmen paired their Blackberry phones with the sound system, but mine would not activate. I left them with my phone while I signed the insurance papers and when I returned, they had it working... sort of... While I could send and receive calls by using the buttons on the phone, the phone button on the steering wheel had no effect. To add to my headache, once I ended a call, the stereo would remain connected to the phone, sometimes taking more than a minute to disengage and return to radio mode. Tonight, I followed instructions on how to pair it myself, but it seems nothing works now.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Installed 9w7 today

So, I received the new bluetooth unit this week and installed it today. Talk about ridiculously easy to do. The dealer wanted $850 to do the swap at time of purchase (they said it was labor intensive), but thanks to Scott @ MFD3dotcom, I have it all set up for less than half that.
Sweet!! :D
I was streaming Pandora through the stereo on my EVO 4G when a call came in. It worked flawlessly. All this w/o a VAG session. No complaints here.

Can you make an adjustment to this paragraph in the FAQ's so that 2010 Jetta Sedan owners upgrading from 9W3 to 9W7 understand that they will need to add 2 wires from the module to the stereo in order to get streaming stereo audio, otherwise they will only have right channel audio.

"2010 Jetta Sedan

2010 owners, you are in luck! You can now acquire the 9W7 module and install it in your vehicle in place of the 9W2 or 9W3 module that your car came equipped with. The part number for this module is 7P6 035 730 C. This will give you voice command, a phone menu in the RNS-510 if your car is so equipped, and A2DP audio streaming to either the RNS-510 or the RCD-510 head units. Note that some users are reporting that the overhead BT console in cars originally equipped with 9W2 modules does not function properly with the 9W7 option.

Is there a way to completely disable bluetooth (9w2)? Neither my wife or I use our phones in the car anyway. I'd love to kill the flashing/steady amber light on the roof. Can it be turned off via VCDS? Or should I just unplug it under the seat?

I did some more looking into a Class Action Lawsuit and decided to retain a Lawyer in the Southern California Area. If you are interested in joining me please PM me your personal Email address only and I will forward it. I am looking at getting completely reimbursed the cost of the 9w7 install and forcing the same for everyone here in California.

2010 Jetta Sportwagen 2.5 SE Tip
Don,

I'm a new member of the club writing from São Paulo - Brasil. I'm a owner of a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen 2.5 SE Tiptronic, This car is manufacted in Mexico and has a different package comparing for the US market. I'm driving nuts because down here we don't have the bluetooth and Ipod interface as optionals. I would like to ask your help and to the other members of the club if it's possible to instal the the 9W7 Bluetooth Module and the OEM MDI Kit into my system. The car came with a RCD510, manufacted by Bosch part VW-5K0 035 190 and the biggest difference I found comparing some RCD510 models mine has the "Phone" button. The car has the MFSW also. Is just install these accessories and configure the VAG COM? What are the codes for that? Regards

I have a 09 Jetta wagon TDI with red MFD and no steering wheel controls. I put a FISCON BASIC in about a year ago and now have problems with it. When I unplug the harness and replug it in the Kufatec unit works and shows up on my MFD, but after afew hours, it disappears. i have take the center panel off and radio out about six times. i tried to update the firmware, after my computer is bluetooth connected but i am not able to transfer files with the bluetooth, it doesnt give me that option on the parrot update wizard page.

any thought? Bad module?

Hello,
I write from Italy.
I have a VW Touran HighLine of 06/2007 (same electronic Golf5), multifunction steering wheel with 8 buttons, RNS510.

I installed the BT Kit 7P6 035 730 C

but my RNS-510 does not recognize the BT microphone to use voice control.
I updated my Fw.3810 RNS510, I would be able to use voice control!!!

Does anyone know how to code the ECU-77 Telephone, to share the mic between BT and RNS??

My Vag-com 10.6.0 does not have the labels of the Byte and Bit of BT-7p6, so I do not know how to code the ECU-77.

I also have the problem that in my multifunction steering wheel, I can not answer incoming calls with the handset button.

I have already done this encoding on ECU-37 Navigator:
Navigation (37)
Coding 07 - 03 bytes -> Microphone check Bit01 = Diag. active (ON)
Coding 07 - 07 bytes -> tick = Bit00 Shortpress Steering Wheel Button ... (ON)
Coding 07 - 07 bytes -> uncheck Bit01 = Voice Control to Inactive (OFF)

I purchased a 2010 Jetta Sedan TDI and it came with a 1Z0 035 729 E. I have a HTC Hero phone and everything work on the MFD out of the box. You have to program in voice dial entry's, but you can dial off the MFD menu from your contact list. The only thing that doesn't seem to work is BT Audio Streaming although it says that it is active. I just got a Micro-CAN VCDS and will see if I can do anything with it after I get more familiar with it.

Faby: the RNS-510 has it's own microphone input. It requires a separate mic from the telephone module.

The module mentioned above does NOT support BT streaming stereo audio. You would need to update to a 9W7 module to get this feature.

9W3 Module

I had just had my 2010 JSW totaled by insurance. Got ran over by a big rig driver from mexico:mad:. It had a RNS system that I added the 9W3 to. I pulled the 9W3 out and replaced the original module (9W2?). Got a 2011 JSW without the RNS so I no longer need the 9W3. $200 drop me a line. If this is the wrong place for this post I am sorry, let me know.
