My 04 Jetta with a 5 speed automatic with tiptronic tranny wont engage reverse. It isn't every time though. It has only been about 4-5 times and only after it has been parked and I start the car up and put it into reverse. All other gears work. Once it did finally engage after about a minute of being in reverse, another time it went when it was pushed. The other times I was luckily on a hill and was able to move a little bit back to get out of the parking spot. Has anyone had this issue before, and does anyone know what might be causing this and what needs to be done to fix it?

There are just too many to list....
Check for battery gassing, that generally tooefs the gear selector switch atop the transmission. Pull the connector and look.
